He looked very good in this game, on offense and defense. Maybe a few too many aggressive passes that got picked off? But the ones that come to mind were on the sidelines, past mid-field, so there was time to recover.
Such a useful player when he's on, it's odd he doesn't seem to have a clear "best" position. Hope he stays healthy.
They changed to a more defensive formation at the half, which involved taking Fabian off (plus another guy) and lost 4-2.

Fab was looking tired last game already. Probably better as a super-sub. I doubt he has much left as a pro, that lengthy period out with back problems was a warning.
He's looked good, that's why he can be a super-sub. You don't use a mediocre player as one. He's also looked tired.
FC Cincinnati reportedly tried to exploit its pre-expansion status to sign Fabian Johnson this summer. Johnson was apparently interested, even if he had to spend 6 months in USL first, but MLS shot it down. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/mcint...nson-fc-cincinnati-fell-though-232741388.html Cincinnati and Johnson were nowhere near each other on salary, but I think they could work that out.
Johnson's versatility could help a lot of teams out. He can cover at RB, LB, RW, LW/ He'll be 31 soon and he has a lot in the tank. I too have heard he's interested playing in the United States
IMO, he's worth $2-$2.5 million a year in MLS, with the only Yanks Abroad worthy of equal or better salary being Pulisic, Brooks, and Wood (too soon for McKennie).
This would have been a helluva swoop / shrewd move by FCC. It sounds like MLS smacked their hands a little bit saying no no you can’t do that. I hope the interest is rekindled this winter. Given the German heritage of Cincinnati, It wouldn’t shock me to see the club target like Johnson or another known German player.
If Bobby Wood gets that much in MLS, I might just curl up and die. I could see Yedlin getting that or more in his place. Agreed on the salary range for Fabian though.
What works in favor of Wood and in disfavor of Yedlin is that it's always easy for an attacking player to get more money. Even if Wood continues to struggle scoring in Germany, his position, his US marketability, and his goalscoring record with the US probably gets him a nice MLS contract. I'd put Yedlin in the $1-$2 million range, along with McKennie (for now), Cameron, and Chandler.
He doesn't have much in the tank, that's why he's looking this way. He was very good in the games he started, but since then he's got benched not due to the quality of his play, but due to his getting gassed after 60 minutes. He missed 161 days last season, out of 218, due to chronic back pain. That's not the sort of issue that just goes away.
not in the squad to play Bayern. his role seems to have shrunk ever since the Hertha game where he was subbed out in the 46th minute.
Plea had a nice goal vs Bayern and they are up 2-0 in the second half.....maybe FJ's decrease in playing time is more about how good the other Gladbach players are and less about him?
