It's interesting the Vikings relying on an American born giant to help them out

It sort of reinforces my theory that the Eredivisie from 2010 to 2018 has not been a good barometer of attacking prowess. Things are starting to change though, the Dutch coaches may be about to re-discover defense.

So Cyprus is a taller task? He scored against bigger clubs and did it at Litex in limited opportunities. Small sample. Misuse in a 2-fw system too? And remember, this is not the country he ideally wanted to play for. So in effect he's to them what most German-Americans have been to us.

I guess case in point our boi Jozy being among the top strikers during his time there.

what happened to the Eredivisie? Seems every striker after Suarez (who made the move to a top 4 league) has failed. Ba Dost (though he did okay in Bundesliga and overachieved in Portugal).

Out at the half after, as the ESPN announcers said, missing a couple of good chances.

He's been quite terrible after that Iceland game.

they lost 1-0. did not see it.

  9. It seems the match will take place coming sunday vs Feyenoord.
The police is in labour negotiations and wanted to strike in Alkmaar thus jeopardizing the match.
Given the lousy results of AZ vs the top 3 the last seasons, AZ prepares behind closed doors. So no one can see how they will play or which team will be on the pitch.
The last 16 matches resulted in 1 draw and 15 losses.
So AZ desperately wants to break that chain of events.

Hope he starts scoring for Norway.

Other than Joshua King, Ola Kamara and the kid at Crystal Palace, he's their only other worthy attacker.

FWIW, Johnsen came out at 57 in the 2-2 to Zwolle. He is starting to get hit pretty hard in the Dutch/Alkmaar footie press/punditry. Some argue he still needs more time, but a lot of the more active fan/news sites think he was a bad transfer.

I haven't watched enough to know how he is fitting in.

Haven't seen him play this season. But as far as stats go, he doesn't look awful. He's got only like 350' in all comps and 3 goals and has only started in 3 matches.

They've one striker who has more goals than Bjorn. (4 goals in 7 matches that he started in).

I guess though if they are critiquing him; it kinda means he's viewed as key to the club. Which is somewhat of a positive

TBF the cup game was a 6-0 blowout where Idrissi got 3, but still, scoring is better than not.

I'm just going from on-line posts and quick twitter notes. So far he's not exciting anyone. Some are ready to write him off, some think it's too early (and, it obviously is too early). As I haven't seen anything outside of highlights my guess is it's AZ's wishing they were better in general, but I can't say for sure.

Voetbalprimeur had the team of the flops composed and three from AZ were in it, but not Johnsen.
