The fans voting half the Atlanta lineup as stars sort of makes it ridiculous. I suspect if the match was Atlanta United vs whomever they're playing then MLS would have a better chance than mixing in some better players from other teams.

Too bad we can’t vote for our ownership that way...

How serious was Everton about getting Steffen last year?

Steffen is the only player we can not afford to lose. Zardes a close second only because we have no other striker. But it’s just scary that AP could possibly sell our best player and really leave us to dwindle in mediocrity.

Everton weren't serious last year. Everton weren't interested last year. That was some fan fiction from a blog.

    Also -
    1) He wouldn't get a work permit.
    2) Everton spent a large amount on a keeper last season.

I see, everyone or anyone think he really is injured and 0 % chance of being sent packing on a big money Transfer

BTW he has to be given a new contract before next season. He has clearly proven he is vastly underpaid with his production on the pitch.

I think it’s very suspect that he hasn’t played the last few weeks and Berhalter is coy about it. Nothing would surprise me with PSV at this point. I’d be disappointed if Higuain was moved out. I believe he has a no trade clause so that means he agreed to a trade/transfer and it’s a knife in the back from PSV. The fact that this team is watchable is the only thing that keeps me attached to the club at this point.

Steffen leaving wouldn't be a conspiracy. Thats nonsense. Players that are too good for the league they're in usually move on. Steffen is either at that point or very near it. Him leaving is expected, its just a matter of when.

Now, if the deal is done late enough that an actual replacement cant be brought it (because kempin isnt the answer obviously) I'd be skeptical, though i still dont think it'd be on precourt. Surely berhalter wouldnt sell steffen after our window closes, but before the european one does.

I mean, has precourt ever even talked about soccer publicly? I doubt he knows the first thing about the team, or sport in general. He's just a guy that wants to own a pro sports team and is too cheap to buy one higher up the food chain. There is no reason for precourt to gut and tank the roster. If anything, he can build more hype in austin by bringing a good team than a bad one. This whole tanking narrative has never made sense to me. Its not like he has to tank to lower attendance or anything....

Good points but if there is a offer for 2 million which is well below what he is worth to me. I think it would b discussed or brought to his attention and whatever the dollar amount I’m sure he would take the money and tell Greg he can reinvest with a % of it

$3-4 million? Or might we see a $5 million bid come winter/summer?

Davies is going to Bayern for a fee that could potentially reach $20 million. I don't see why Steffen couldn't fetch a fee of half that.

Markus noticed that Steffen got a haircut. I am taking that as truth even though I tend to not notice those things.

I wanna see him in the CL. I wonder if Ajax or PSV could afford him. Or at least an EL club from a top 4 league

[“He came in at halftime and said, ‘Thanks for bailing me out guys,’” coach Gregg Berhalter said

Said Trapp: “I told him, ‘We’re going to need you to win us this game.’”]

    ...

[“I just tried to stay in the moment and keep the nerves down,” Steffen said, “and try to have fun with it.”

Said Berhalter: “I saw calm in our group. I think after they scored, that’s when we got control of the match again. Maybe one moment of injury time they they had a little bit, they threatened us, but we were calm.

“Having a goalie that can save penalties really helps.”]

I tell you what, Steffen really made up for that poor decision on the first goal.

Swooning. To be fair, we both were squealing. She shouted something like "Rugby Rooney can't beat Zack!"

And she may have spent a few minutes admiring Steffen's Instagram picture from the locker room.
