    ???

Doing the slant eye gesture or yelling out "open your eyes" in public is not going to get a pass where ever you play in East Asia.

It's not about 'overly sensitive' but the different levels of human development.

It is not ok and certainly not normal for most decent educated humans to travel to another country as sports professionals to conduct themselves in such a manner. Maybe it's the norm in South America but it doesn't mean that it is acceptable in other parts of the world.

Yikes. I'd personally be really pissed and embarrassed if one of our players did something like this abroad. It's just such a trashy and disrespectful thing to do, definitely not something that makes your team and country look good internationally. Yuri Guriel of the MLB did the slant eyes and there was controversy over it in the US. It's not just a Korea thing, more like a first world country thing. But I guess that's just how our countries/cultures are different.

Let me remind you, that before playing in South Korea, all these players spent some time in Sapporo, Japan, and nothing about any of this "crap" happened while being there. These issues only started to make noise, once our players landed in South Korea. And in the past, our team has been and played in many other east asian countries as well (not even our first trip to SK, for the case being).

Besides, for many of these players, this trip was not their first trip ever to an east asian country, as most of them are always traveling, at both club level and at NT level.

Some have even shared time with SK players at their clubs, where they treat them even more harshly on respect to their looks, most of the time joking around, and there never was a big deal over it. More so, one of Medel's best friends in Europe, happens to be South Korean, with whom he is always joking about race, being the slant eye gesture, a norm when fooling around. Of course, when they do it, goes both ways : the same you fool around about the looks of others, they fool around with the looks you may have.

I never said it was normal.

But, as you want to talk about education, let me also remind you that before judging others, judge yourself first.

Most of what has been critiziced, is how the players conduct themselves between themselves, and mainly in chilean spanish when it gets to words (I hardly believe anyone of them hardly understands any word in korean), and by doing so, independently if what they are saying is right or wrong, you still are invading their privacy, which is a very uneducated atitude, as well.

And in your case, as you are the ones pretending to be on a high horse on relation to judge what must be considered as educated or not, is even worse, as you are suposed to be the hosts here.

You should have started with this, as it says it all.

Our countries and cultures are diferent. So you can't judge anything about them with the same bar. Doing so, you are the one being rude.

Your stupid players engage in racism and then you tell us that we are being rude and creating a controversy over nothing unlike the Japanese?

I pity your lack of education in your third world country.

I would never go to Santiago and start making fun of everyday people. Say it was a joke and try to say in our country we make fun of everyone. I simply don't understand your logic.

What if our players went to Santiago and started screaming out "grow up you midgets" and "why are you so poor?" I'd be mortified. I certainly wouldn't defend them and say it's a difference in cultures.

well, by many of the words and expressions used by many round here, it really makes you wonder whom really third world might be.

Actually, no one has done anything like that since the begining.

Everything spoken about here, has happened at a private level, taken up to the media, to "make waves" about it. None of this happened at the stadium.

If they say it in korean, no one will even get aware of what they said.

And to be honest, most would laugh about it, as most round here (in Chile), have the wrong idea, that east asians are even smaller.

Invading privacy???? You really are stupid just like your players.

Taking a picture with a Korean fan doing a racist gesture in public is invading privacy?

Posting on Instagram saying racist crap in the middle of the day in public us invading privacy?

Are you incapable of basic logic? Is that how piss poor education levels are in Chile?

We have a saying in Korea that applies to you and your players - we avoid stepping on shit because it's dirty not because it's scary. Thank goodness we rarely have to deal with your lot. Ungrateful, racist, uncivilized guests are the worst.

    Lol... Forget being nice.

    1. Chile is the third world. You are poorer and less educated based on hard facts.
    2. Your players engaged in racism in public. All were posted online. Plenty of Koreans speak Spanish. If our players engaged in racism that were posted online it would be exposed regardless of the language they used. Your privacy excuse is just elementary school level excuses.
    3. Average heighth of male Chileans are shorter than Koreans. You can even see that on the pitch. Laugh all you want.

You're incapable of debate due to either your stupidity and/or lack of education.

Every excuse and justification you've posted for your players actions have been ridiculous.

actually, we don't give a peanut about racial features.

We can joke about it, the same way as we joke about relligion, politics and every other feature in human development, as in life, there are with no doubts lot's of other things more important than any of that.

This is quite unbelievable. I'm going to break down your arguments on the BSK forum on this thread and the match thread (as well as those from your players).

Justification No. 1 - there was no Racism. What our players did was not racist. Slant eye gesture was not racist. Yelling out "open your eyes retards" was not racist. It's ok because in Chile, we "joke" around all the time and make fun of everything and everyone. So it was just a joke and not racism.

Justification No, 2 - you are invading privacy. Even if what our players did was racist, you are invading our players privacy because you are looking at pictures they took in public with Korean fans and at their jokes made in public during day time on their public Instagram posts. It was all meant to be private even though it was all out in the public.

Justification No. 3 - It was all in Chilean Spanish. You're not supposed to understand Spanish. And our Chilean version of Spanish is more complicated than what you can comprehend so everything sounds racist but it isn't. If you said something in Korean, it wouldn't be reported, so why are you reporting our players for being racist?

Justification No. 4 - you are bad, overly sensitive hosts. We were privately racists in our own language (even though it was all publicly done and publicly posted). The Japanese didn't report any racist behavior from our players (who knows if they were better behaved or not in Sapporo). Why are you being so sensitive that our players were racists. You weren't supposed to understand it in the first place. Stop being such bad hosts (meanwhile their FA and players go home or back to their clubs with plenty of money in their pockets from Korea and the KFA and were put up in first class accommodations and facility/pitch access).

Justification No. 5 - from the players... It wasn't meant to be racist. It was an affectionate gesture. It was actually directed at me b/c I have "small eyes" just like those Koreans! We were meant to play football (while playing under the "No Racism in Football" FIFA banner)... The irony and idiocy.

Are you kidding me? This is like a list from Dumb and Dumber. How stupid can YOU and YOUR players possibly be? Oh wait. Now I know.

    1. third world ?.....maybe
    poorer ?......no doubt about it
less educated ? (by south korean standards).....maybe
(by chilean standards).......it's the other way around

you forgot about general levels of happiness.
we are definitively lots more happy with life, as there are hardly any suicides here (while you guys are among the top 10).

what else should we compare ?, how about size of shoes ? .......:p:rolleyes:

    2. only one of our players did so ( Diego Valdes), and he came out right away to say sorry about it, once told he was wrong doing so.
About more koreans speaking spanish, you might be right (although I don't know why you come up with this), but where you have a very big confussion, is that all spanish speaking countries, have diferent dialects, that make them all diferent one to the other (at this level, it really gets complicated, even among spanish speakers from diferent countries).
Actually, you guys (koreans), do engage quite often in racism or other forms of discrimination online, but many of you guys don't notice it (your issues on regards to western asians and neighbours across the pond, are legendary). Most of the times, others don't say it to you, to not be rude against you, and make you feel uncomfortable.
About the privacy and intimacy issue, it's an universal human right to have it. You don't think so, go discuss it to the United Nations (not me).

    3. height ?, truth is, we chileans must be among the shortest in the whole world. Don't need to search it anywhere.
But not because it may be a fact, people believe it as well. I also posted it as if it was a wrong perception in Chile.
