Nope, not me, are you referring to my handle? I was Pacman but I had to create a new user as something happened to my original login.
Hahahhahahahahaa nothing will ever happen my friend. You clearly haven't lived in South America. I just watched the nightly news in Chile. During the sports coverage, the two announcers of a major TV channel (Canal 13), they were unimpressed with the racist gesture and said something along the lines of "i'm sorry, but in this atmosphere of political correctness, this is absurd. Everyone gets offended by the most minimal thing." Then proceeded to cover other sports stories, even though they were unrelated to the Chile-Korea match, they kept on mocking the situation by saying stuff like "oh no, the barcelona player might get offended by the other player's tackle... oh no, inter milan's manager might get offended by the opposing team's uniforms... etc." It's pathetic and sad how these uneducated bunch of latin americans are mainstreaming this adoption of "casual racism"... It gives you an idea of how much they care about this type of insults. I highly doubt any disciplinary action will be taken, and if they do, chileans will blame the "sensitive koreans" for instigating such "drama". I really hate that part of Chilean and latin american culture. It's a vicious cycle... even the media doesn't give a shit. So many uneducated and uncultured people.
This reckless attitude seems to be a problem in Hispanic countries, including the motherland of Spain. Third world cultures just don't get it.
Well, the only exception to a chilean getting offended is if they're being called these slurs while in the US. But as I mentioned earlier, there's very few chileans in the US (or abroad for that matter). To the vast majority of the chileans living in chile, they just don't give two shits.
There is a sizeable Chilean community in Australia, they do not like being grouped with Mexicans or even referred to as Mestizo especially when they are short and dark. They crave the White genes of Europeans.
I meet a lot of Latin Americans here, and I've only come across a few, regardless of color, that are taller than like 175cm.
Yes, they don't like being called "indio" (indigenous), but the irony lies in the fact that most of the chilean population has indigenous blood in them (unlike argentina or uruguay, where there's a very sizeable italian immigrant enclave) I actually respect the actual indigenous tribes in chile. They're mostly ostracized by most of the chileans for being "uncultured and uncivilized", but chileans don't realize that these "uncultured and uncivilized" indigenous people have way more culture and class than them. The chilean diaspora overseas gets more sensitive to these types of slurs since they may experience more racially motivated attacks than when they're in chile.
Genuinely curious, what is Latin American culture? Seems like its just passed down from its colonizers.
I lived in chile for most of my life and was called "chino" (chinese) everywhere I went. It pissed me off at first, and still does, but i "somehow" got used to it. There's very little appreciation for other cultures and asians are a very rare minority who mostly live and work in small enclaves (mostly patronato and estacion central). Outside of these enclaves, every time they see an asian, they make the slanted eyes gesture. Or they just stare at you endlessly as if they've never seen an asian person before. Looking back, I just laugh at their lack of culture. I blame the lack of education and the lack of diversity for this type of behavior.
So the equivalent Chinese-eyes "slur" that Chileans would be offended by is to call them an, "Indio". Then we have it solved to get the message across straight and simple. When they mock us with the Chinese eyes gesture, we can call them "Indio" and say it's all in the name of affectionate racism. Sticks and stones, right?
lived in Paraguay...and all Asians are Coreanos lived in Brasil...and all Asians are Japones... it's just funny...that said, good luck to us in the mornning
I personally would like to see our players make some sort of gesture like refuse to shake his hand or give him the death glare.
hahahhah yesss. flaites everywhere. you lived in chile? curious as to how you know the "flaite" and "shile" terms
http://insight.co.kr/news/177854 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bng6OijHcht/?utm_source=ig_embed Chilean players going at it again with the racism in Suwon apparently. Maybe @chilekorea can translate what he's saying in the video, but the article says that "abre los ojos weon" means "open your eyes dumbass". We need to start the destroyer trio of LSW, HHC and KSY.
Let the peasants be peasants, there is a reason Chile is a 3rd world dump. I hope LSW kicks the shit out of some of those peasants.
