According to Vidal, he'll get roughly 60 minutes of playing time tomorrow. Was questioned about his knee injury, but says that it's nothing serious and that he feels perfectly fine.

I want us to be able to contain a player of Vidal's quality tomorrow. It would have been great to have Alexis Sanchez come too, although he's quite shit for club.

Yea well maybe Mourinho can take Alexis and his 600k weekly wage with him when he leaves at the end of the season. I don't think ManU fans will be too upset with either of them leaving at this point LOL

Not even mad. Says heaps about their social consciousness. I pity them. Also hope that it motivates our players.

No way that it's an affectionate thing either given the situation the Colombian guy used it in.

Is that Vidal doing the gesture? He's an alcoholic anyway, which means he's not the most stable person.

    Hey guys,

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say, let's not give the jerk more attention than he deserves and keep this thread about the game as much as possible.
It's not that I don't understand what that gesture means but we do not need to respond to racism with more racism.
In fact, instead of stooping to his level, go to FIFA.com and the Chilean Football Association websites and file complaints there so they understand how offensive that sort of behavior is.

    Thanks.

Actually, we as a soccer community should find ways to positively engage with issues like this, and contacting the players and federations in a respectful manner is a good idea. Sort of like how Keita actually covered up his imperial rising sun tattoo within a week after Korean Liverpool fans and other soccer community members contacted him.

I emailed both Fifa and Chile Football Federation, and I urge all BSKers to do the same.

This "ttong" has stop and these people need to be fined and suspended.

How does he even slightly look like Vidal?

Vidal is a world class veteran who has fans all around the world and has been living in Europe for the past 11 years, I'm sure he knows better.

I'm surprised that they still fall back on the "affectionate" excuse... The excuse falls apart on three separate elements unless they've been living under a rock or in a part of the Spanish speaking world with no internet access.

    1. Exposure - there's been plenty of time and exposure in the Spanish speaking world that it's an unacceptable gesture. It's been 10+ years since the Beijing Olympics where Spain caused a scandal with both their mens and womens team photos. Mexican broadcasters fired TV personalities during the world cup due to the gesture. FIFA bans have been given. MLB bans have been given.
    2. Mock for Derision - Maradona used it to make fun of Korean fans during the world cup. He was called out for it by the international press. And he resorted to the same lame excuse. But the fact remains, he used the gesture to mock and deride. Same for that baseball player when Yu Darvish was pitching. So unless mocking/deriding equates to affection in Latin countries, that excuse falls apart.
    3. Attack in Anger - That Colombian player laid bare the racism in the gesture to attack his opponents in anger with racism.

Chile FA and manager should just send the player home.
