Bayern midfield against Stuttgart was Thiago 6, Müller and Goretzka as double 8s. In the previous BL match Goretzka came on in the second half to replace Javi Martinez and played as the 6.
Interesting I remember it being stated on here that he was an attacking midfielder - but he looks much more an 8 to me
he can play DM, CM, and AM but has always said his main position is CM. I think the AM thing is because he scores goals for a midfileder. Ballack comparisons doesn't help in that regard. would actually also add that when he came on as a sub vs Hoff on matchday 1, Bayern started to look better.
Ballack to the Future was played as an LB by Kovac, lol. got a yellow in the 1st half and was subbed out in the 46th minute to be replaced by Alaba, the real LB on the team. Germany's new LB for the NT. but seriously Kovac needs to play him in midfield not in defense.

So many questions remain about Leon Goretzka... Is he the next Marco Reus in terms of injuries? Will he miss major tournaments and important international duties all the time? Will he ever find stability in his health and fitness? Is he just another wasted talent because of all the injuries? Should we just abandon trying to follow Goretzka's career and just hope Havertz ends up having more success?
Maybe a mod should just replace Goretzka's name with Havertz in the thread title. Goretzka might miss like half the games of every season and may not be much to discuss about again.
