Their playing styles. I always thought LJS fulfills the role LCY used to do for the team. KJM looks like he could be a KSY replacement down the road.

I feel like Kim Jungmin is more mobile than KSY. More ppalli ppalli. KSY might have better passing accuracy though. But if he works on his defending, he'll be a more complete player and can surpass KSY.

I hope you're right. When that injury occurred, that was a punch to the gut and I had to convince myself that the World Cup would still be worth watching after losing our 2nd best player.

I totally forgot that Khazakstan was in the AFC back then before swapping places with the Uzis and going into UEFA... That WCQ with Choi YS scoring against them reminded me how dumb they were to leave the AFC...

They do. They go to KAIST. I have two cousins that went in that direction instead of ROTC like my other cousins.

KSY’s father ceated a near carbon copy of KSY in Kim JM. If he can work on his defensive gaps, he will be such a complete midfielder. He’s a U19 player bossing that midfield. We lost our fluency and control of the match when we was subbed out instead of Lee JH imo... Again, he’s only 18 and already in the redbull machine in Europe with an exemption. I really can’t wait to see him called up for his first full cap.

He even looks like Ki lol. I think his vision is amazing. His through pass to HUJ who was mistakenly called offside was brilliant. His overall performance was disappointing but the last game vs Japan showed how much potential this lad got.

I feel twisted about the decision. On one hand, he has shown some tactical flaws that we could luckily compensate with individual class from the players, but the Olympics are on a different level than AG.
His squad selection sucked hard, so I remain sceptical whether he can do that better next time (at least he was right about HUJ). His decision to rotate in the second game almost cost our gold medal.

On the other hand there were some good points, too. What I rate about KHB (at least much better than STY) is that he sticked to a 4 back system after finding out that he had made a mistake. Like STY he'd had not much preparation time. STY would have experimented throughout the tournament. He's kind of less stubborn in that aspect.
His substitutions in KO phase were well-timed imo.
Many experts in Korea rate him highly actually. Maybe he will look different with the two years of preparation time he gets.
It's also not that we have many alternatives.

I would've preferred Jung Jung-Yong, but he might be too inexperienced for a tournament? I don't know...

We had the best players to fill the void that is tactical incompetence. 2020 won't give him that luxury unfortunately.

That's arguably not right. Watch the previous posts (or in U23 thread). The Olympic squad, with the right mix of this AG's generation plus new ones, it's not that bad. I rather think that we will have harder opponents to afford these tactical mistakes.

Nah, he won't cut it for the Olympics unless he learnt his lesson this tournament regarding formation ********ups and player selection.

Apparently, he will get a detailed feedback from the technical committee. KHB doesn't look very stubborn, so he might be willing to learn from his mistakes.

One positive is that he was humble enough to learn from the Malaysia match and change the formation.

Nothing new, it was already in the contract when the KFA appointed him.

이후 선임위는 후임 감독 선임 착수에 들어갔다. 여러 후보를 검토한 끝에 김학범 감독에게 아시안게임과 2020 도쿄 올림픽을 모두 맡기기로 했다.

Well, 4 yrs ago SHM was a young kid at Leverkusen and he grew into a leader for this team. Hope KCH can make a big move soon and do the same.

unless you somehow pursuade shin taeyong (which every one of you hate) you arent going to get anyone better than kim hakbum among domestic coaches. even if you are convinced otherwise itd be marginal differences at best. i would like to see kim jongbu come up through the youth teams similar to how kfa gave shin taeyong exposure to international scenes through olympics&u20 world cup but right now hes managing a club
