Could have been 3-2 and unnecessary stress with SHM and Hwang already subbed out. Type of lapse that has me worried against better competition like Japan.

Stop that "convert him to FB" crap. You can't attack with technical players like LSW only. HHC contributed to two goals today as an attacker. He just needs to work a lot on his finishing and get some confidence.

Edit: However, I now agree that CF is not the best position for him. Should become a wing forward.

The team that Japan brought to this tournament isn’t as good as this Vietnam side imo.

I agree. He needs to keep working on his finishing as he has the grit that you see from players like Suarez but the finishing of the likes of Choi YS or LKH. It will always handicap his career.

At the same time, I don’t see him having the pitch IQ to play as a CDM at a high level. And he certainly won’t be able to do so as a RB, which requires an excellent reading of the game. His best bet is to continue working hard on his end product through extra practice and dedication to develop as a forward imo.

Btw after watching two games (yes, unfair to judge), my current opinion on Kim Jung Min is that he isn't Ki's successor. He plays like shite. Paik SH it is.

Kim Jungmin was fine in this match; actually did really well to distribute the ball and give shape to our midfield until the second substitution was made. After that second sub, changing formations to something that clearly wasn’t practiced enough (i.e., pushing Kim MJ up to midfield) brought massive confusion and collapse of fluency in the midfield.

Hopefully he gets some time with Girona's first team this season. Got bench time against Real.

IMO he was not that different to LSM. He was very passive defensively, I've barely seen him running after the ball. The only good thing about him is his vision and long passing skills, but that's all. His mentality is weak, too. He lost the ball too often and let the opponent pass by too easily. He made it harder for the CBs, especially in 2nd half.

To be fair, he's very young and it could be nervousness. However, talent is not everything, so I hope he can learn a lot from this tournament and works a lot on his mentality to become a better player.

Athletic and energetic forwards and wingers are great, but it doesn't mean shit if, as a forward, he's blowing chance after chance because of his poor decisionmaking and lack of offensive talent. That's what HHC is.

HHC clearly doesn't have that intuitive feel for scoring and playmaking which is necessary for attacking players. He's not a natural offensive player. Offensive instinct isn't something that can really be taught. HHC doesn't show many flashes of talent in that respect, and I don't see how his play will ever blossom into something else altogether.

There is no reason why he can't play as a midfielder or fullback. Tons of offensive players switch to those positions, so why couldn't HHC? His athleticism is valuable anywhere, not just as a forward. I don't see him playing as a CDM ever, but LM/RM or a fullback? He could be excellent in those roles with his stamina, tenacity, and speed, but in a position where he has much more time and space to make decisions than he ever would as a forward.

CDR was never one of the sharper players on the pitch, but he transitioned well into a FB, didn't he? He probably should have played FB from the beginning, as he never had that much offensive talent. And he was way more athletic than HHC.

And uh, making marginal contributions in two goals against Vietnam? What's that supposed to prove? He's been dogshit for most of this tourney against other guys his age. HHC is easily replaceable as a forward, and I think that he'll be gone once his speed begins to fade. He might be gone even sooner as he has a lot of competition in that position. I'll be glad to be proven wrong, but I don't see HHC really panning out as a fw.

    - Hwang Eui-jo is only three goals away from breaking Hwang Sun-hong's record of 11 goals. Then, he will be regarded as the best wildcard in Korean Football history.

    - Park Hang-seo is pleased with his side despite the loss since 1. This is Vietnam's first ever Semi-finals appearance at the Asian Games, 2. They have a good chance at bringing in their first ever medal in football at the Asian Games, and 3. He knew his players would keep fighting for 90 minutes against us. He was also joyful that we reached the finals, and have shown his support for the country.

    - Not gonna lie, Vurong's freekick was absolutely beautiful, can't blame anyone on that.
