He's a d-mid but doesn't track back or try and chase the ball down. Maybe he just needs to be rested.
As much for the dickhead cowardly way he did it as anything else, for me at least. Boca was past it and I would have considered LDs sabbatical his international retirement. But I would have been honest about it instead of the crap that JK spewed.
Theres one thing that bothers me about Donovan takes and it's when people try to spin a strategic or tactical stupidity to it. For probably the 1000th time, Jurgen left Donovan at home to leave his imprimatur on the team, and remove him from the locker room/environment. He wanted "His Team". It had eff all to do with his talent or lack thereof, his age, his fitness or anything else. Guys like Brad Davis made the roster because they bought in, and wouldn't rock his boat. They sure as hell didn't make it because they were better than Landon. That's why at the time, while I thought it was totally unacceptable, I didn't think it was inexcusable. Many coaches have done the same thing, McCarthy left Roy Keane off because Keane ----ed all over the FA, France imploded after Anelka was left off, Germany just imploded after Sane was left off. And of course there's us and "Captain For Life" John Harkes in 1998. Sometimes leaving a key guy off works, sometimes it doesn't. It didn't for us, especially when injuries ripped apart our group of forwards, and left us playing a game Klinsmann never intended, but he and the rest of us had to sleep in the idiotic bed he and his ego made for us.
Can you show me the posts where people are expecting him to be called in for the Gold Cup? I must have missed them?
Let's say he plays 46 games a year including CCL, Open Cup and internationals. Kyle Walker (picked at random) who's been playing professionally for 10 years made 57 appearances for club and country last season.
There a half dozen comments about LD/Brazil on this thread and you expect people to not discuss MB/Russia.....
Are you saying that? If you believe wikipedia, he played 52 games last year, 37 the year before, 46 in 2015. FWIW.
MB90 was all heart and desire and that is why 10/10/17 was so infuriating. The body language and approach to that game by MB was so out of place that it caused a violent reaction. At least in my case, it was out of admiration for a player that looked to let us down in such an avoidable manner. His play and leadership was not a result of tactics or outside forces, it was a choice. It will take some time and distance for any unbiased reflection of his career by many fans, myself included
Is it really bias when reflecting on his career noting his role in the second greatest phail in the history of US soccer. (The first being doing a team mates wife, which I am pretty sure is a killable offense in a gun state.) I suppose you could point to the mexico goal but performances having weighting values and the TNT game gets a very big weight factor assigned.
Apparently, there is a Michael Bradley Rising profile by USSOCCER along with Timohty Weah, Pulisic, Josh Sargent, Weston McKennie, etc.
Cross posting from another thread. Another viewpoint on MB90, Conrad calls Bradley "a super alpha male know-it-all".
Bradley not having Pulisic's back during the Hex Hackathon makes sense. His precious stature as team alpha leader was threatened by an 18 yr old.
Jimmy Conrad sounds like a sheep, and us Lions don't care about what they think (or any of our teammates either, apparently).
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally the truth is coming out by the players, about what we knew for the last 10 years. too bad the USSF was run like a political campaign . The Bradley's running for lifetime office.
Lets see if brain Sciaretta, Ives Galacerp, Matt Doyle, etc. Post this revelation...…. The German-Americans and others were just a deflection.
Bradley always gave me those vibes.. not very personable and just looks like the dude doesn’t know how to have fun lol. Too stoic and emotionless for the most part unless it’s him being pissed off at the ref. Last cycles did not have good team chemistry and clearly it seeped on to the field. I’ll be very disappointed if he gets called up.
I have said it before, bringing him back will poison the well. We already have a core group of young players to build upon, no need for lazy ass over the hill sub MLS level player on this roster.
Conrad and Besler played together with SKC. Sounds a lot like the defender was Besler. I think we already knew Bradley was a big problem within the side, but this seems to explain some of the problems even further. Why should Bradley be back? He'd be lucky to get a retirement game after failing to quality the team for the WC as captain and one of the biggest underperforming players.
