So this is their permanent homestay or just until they get adjusted? I can't imagine them staying here for the full duration of their contract. This hotel is near Kintex which is kinda out of the way.
its temporary. they were going to stay in one of the hiltons but im guessing staff requested a place near paju. rumour is everyone on the staff is bringing their family over. kfa probably getting each of them a family friendly place to stay
As batumchange2 mentioned, it's only temporary until Kim Pan-gon get's them a permanent home, and it's closer to the Paju NFC, so they went with the MVL. Plus, it's a luxurious hotel, so they won't remain there very long.
I'm still disappointed and I'm still concerned that Bento hasn't produced since 2012. But a bit of time has passed and I'm willing to be optimistic. I think he's certainly better than Stielike, and I'm gonna try to be positive about this.
I think some of you seriously need to get a reality check pronto. Bento is probably the most competent manager we can get considering the state of our squad, national football association, dire domestic scene, recent performances, etc. Why on earth would a manager looking at our recent history want to attach his name to a situation known now for its inconsistency and mediocrity? I for one welcome our new Portuguese overlords.
Prior to appointing Paulo Bento, the No. 1 manager on KFA supervisory committee chief Kim Pan-gon's wish list was Juan Carlos Osorio. Other managers Kim contacted before Bento were Juande Ramos, Quique Sanchez Flores, Carlos Queiroz, Herve Renard and Paul Le Guen.— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) August 21, 2018
Bento will be using former Technical Development Director Lee Lim-saeng's space as his office. Bento is also looking for a new translator since the first guy is terrible.
Do we know when they will hire a new, competent Technical Development Director? That should be KPG's next mission, shouldn't it? Lee Im Saeng was such a joke and waste of spot + money. IMO such an important job, but we have no one atm.
He's saying all the right things and being direct. He also seems 100% focused for this job. Again, not super impressed with his resume but there are few positives (his longevity with Portugal NT and Sporting), and him being desperate to really prove his worth.
The biggest question is how much of a leash will we give bento? What circumstances would justify his firing before the 2022 WC? I feel these need to be defined preemptively, like a rubric, to mitigate the emotional factors following a poor set of results. If he tries something new and we lose to Qatar 3-1 in 2021 WCQ, are we calling for his head? What about if we get knocked out of the quarterfinals in the Asian Cup to Japan 4-0? I'm all for staying the course with a manager, barring irreconcilable differences, but the inevitable noise from media and whimsical fans makes me think it's impossible for a KNT manager to keep/want to keep his job for 4 years. It's exacerbated by the fact that our players seem particularly influenced by garbage they read online- adding strain to the manager-player dynamics.
My guess is, Bento gets at least 2 years. Because we'll still be in qualifications, and 2 years is decent amount of time to judge an NT manager. I just hope we don't do it the third time where we fire a manager right after we qualify for the WC and have only a year left for the new manager to fix the problem. Didn't work for HMB and STY.
Thought the same but then again, it's not like the Portugese league or CSL gets good attendance either asides from the big teams. Really wish more fans came out to K-League games tho..I know I would if I lived there. Sometimes wonder how much further our football would come along if fans filled the stands for these matches.
