Maybe I'm asking for too much but I'd like to see at least 10.

Willian, Ferandinho, RA, Paulinho, Felipe Luis, TS, Miranda, Dani Alves/Fagner, Cassio, Danilo, Taison, Fred, and Marcelo shouldn't be on the squad.

    Fagner still getting called

Fabinho being grouped with the RBs?

I'm surprisingly ok with the Filipe Luis instead of Marcelo inclusion.

Thiago Silva, I actually understand now. Rest of the CBs are interesting. Would have liked to see Jemerson somewhere in there but I knew Dede was going to get a look.

    RA

Willian still? Why not Malcom or Vincius?

Andreas Pereira is an interesting name. I know Belgium were sniffing around him a while back

Overall I actually like the call up. Hope everything is ok with Ederson. I really think he can challenge Alisson this cycle.

EDIT: Whoa just realized Gabriel Jesus was dropped:eek:

Decent list overall. I would have liked to have seen RA and Filipe Luis dropped simply because I don't think they will be there in 2022. But, Tite did say there is a short term list which is through December, and I guess these guys are those types of players.

With that said, I think the midfield looks really really strong. Good players, and some with excellent potential who should only get stronger as they develop.

As for some of the youngsters, it is probably too premature to call up Vinicius and Richarlison. However, a guy like Malcom probably deserved to be called up for his season at Bordeaux.

Anyways, looking forward to the matches next month!

Paulinho and Fernandinho are both absent, and I for one think Fernandinho's time is over. He is 33. Paulinho? I could still see him playing, but in 2022 he'll be 34.

Tite was rather bold. Arthur, formerly of Grêmio and now in Barcelona, is in. Andreas Pereira, who was born in Belgium and has played for Belgium's youth NTs, is in; he actually scored Brazil U20's tying goal against Serbia in the 2015 U20 World Cup.

6 players who play in Brazil are in.

Definitely a new ciclo. More than defeating Team USA and El Salvador, Tite is thinking long-term and with Copa América in Brazil in 2019, followed by WCQ (which would start in September or October if CONMEBOL leaves the current format intact), he'll have plenty to work on, but much excellent material to work with as well.

Anyone going to the games? I went in 2010 and also watched the friendly against Argentina in which we used a youth team back in 2012.

I liked the list very much, especially the midfield. Gone are Fernandinho and Paulinho, probably for good, and in are very good young names.

After the Jorginho situation, very smart of Tite to lure Andreas away from Belgium, especially considering that games played in UEFA League of Nations count as official matches. If Belgium called him up, he would be gone for good.

My only grip with the list is calling Willian, who probably wont stay for 2022 instead of trying Malcom.

The rationale according to him is that he is looking to the short term as well with Copa America on the horizon. I guess he plans for Willian to be in the mix for that where the younger players will still need some more experience.

I quite like the list. I also agree with dropping Marcelo and Gabriel Jesus. Good to see new blood

Frankly, I was shocked not to see GJ on the list. He was always a favorite of Tite.
Would have liked to see Vinicius on there but Pedro is just too much, fuking crushing it at FLU.
Very interesting press conference today shown entirely on PFC. I’ll try to post the feed.

Yep. He has to keep some medalhōes in the team for CA. If it wasn't played at home it might have been different. Still surprised RA was called up. Tite really likes him. He basically admitted he wasn't able to cope with losing RA from a tactical perspective for the WC.

Just watched Richarlison score another goal. He defintely should have taken over Willian's spot yesterday.

Where did you read that the League of Nations counts as official matches for FIFA purposes? If so, that would be very unfair to the countries who only play "friendlies."

Honestly, we just too stack at the wide forward spot. Several talents will have trouble getting in eventually.

And that's not even including guys who are in their mid 20s and could be on the 2022 team -- Luan and Lucas Moura come to mind.

Actually both Luan and Lucas Moura(who no coach since Mano seems to like) will both be 29 by WC'22!!

In the press conference announcing the escalação this guy next to Tite ( Edu Gaspar?) said that they called "ONE player for each Brazilian club" . .... but for foreign clubs, multiple players got called (example, PSG - Marquinhos and TS)....
What the hell of a criteria is this? CBF cannot piss off Brazlian clubs???

European leagues respect FIFA dates , CBF doesn’t . Corinthians , Flamengo and Cruzeiro will lose those players for the Copa do Brasil SF....I believe one leg at least . I haven’t checked .

Agree but Willian didn't put in the performances needed this Copa to be called up imo.

I dunno, I think he's still a good option for the next 2 years. I would prefer Douglas Costa to start, though. This is but the first call-up of many. We have one more pair of friendlies before the end of the year I think.

There are two FIFA dates in Oct and two in Nov. So, I'm thinking that there should be four more friendlies after the Sep ones.

I think this squad is okay but Fagner is a joke, and the matches are completely useless, a gigantic lack of respect with Brasileirão of his own owner.

I guess poor Lucas Moura with his 2 goal performance for Spurs vs Man U can't buy his way in the team!!:(

Lucas Moura is such an odd case. Really had high hopes for him in Sao Paulo but he consistently made bad career decisions. Would be nice to see him succeed with Tottenham but I don't see where he fits in the Selecao with younger guys making their cases.

Ricarlison got called up for Pedro. I thought he had shot himself in the foot last week after he openly talked about his disappointment about not being called up.
