The Neymar video was not a good idea. It was well written, but It should not have been presented by a sponsor.
Neymar should have made the presentation on his own from his heart.
Porém com o talento que Neymar tem, eu tenho certeza absoluta que vai dar a volta por cima.

All this Neymar hate is getting beyond stupid. There's something about Neymar that people hate and it's not just the supposed propensity to dive. I think it's just envy.
In other news, great stuff from Vinicius Jr. at Real Madrid, he's going to be a great one. I hope Madrid incorporates him into the set-up in a quick but judicious way.
Also, Malcolm did well against Roma. Only a few weeks after the World Cup one is left to wonder why Tite didn't give Malcolm a bigger chance during the friendlies against Croatia and Austria especially since Brazil were lacking firepower on the right side.

Please. None of this they must be jealous talk. Only thing I'd say is that a lot of people expect too much from pro athletes. As if they have to be role models. They really don't. Like Barkley's "I am not a role model" commercial back in the 90s.

I do strongly agree that the Neymar hatred worldwide, and horrible propaganda he has and continues to receive, is unfair and unjustifiable and even unexplainable. Even his advertising dollars has had a significant drop. I don’t get it.

That thing about the advertising dollars drop, if true, will be the only thing that may "reform" Neymar's "behavior" on the pitch. Note, I'm not one of those people who thinks that Neymar is a diver. To the contrary, at least in the instance against Mexico in the round of 16, I agreed with Ney's actions when he "embellished" injury after being stepped on by Layun. I thought it was correct to try to get Layun a red card or at least a yellow. I mean, if some *sshole (Layun) does that he deserves whatever he gets.

He dives less than people think. But he acts like his leg or arm has been chopped off for a lot of fouls. It's as if his pain threshold is zero. I also had no problem him trying to sell the Layun play. But he needs to make it less theatric ... just to sell it better.

Last night at Fogo de Chao, I met people from India, from Turkey, I tell them I'm from Brasil, and the first thing out of their mouth? Neymar dives too much. Unreal.

He can’t used the excuse that he kick as well because other flair players get kicks and they don’t act like that.

    OFFICIAL:

Tite will on August 17 announce Brazil's squad for the next two matches vs the United States of America (Sep 7) and El Salvador (Sep 11).

It is expected that their will be several young inclusions to mark the start of the road to #Qatar2022.

This take on Tite is so bad I couldn't keep it to myself.

    https://blogdomenon.blogosfera.uol....-uma-estatua-para-felipao-e-outra-para-dunga/

Some people didn't want Tite to return. Understandable. He also is of the opinion (not absurd here, some people share it) that Tite was out-coached by Martinez and Osorio and that our only good game was against Serbia.

But then he goes on to say Tite only looks good cause the previous coaches (Dunga, Scolari) were so bad.

    And the money quote:
For those who don't read Portuguese:

In the end it's not even an argument, just a rant to express some frustration and his idea that Tite is being given a pass because of the way he is and who came before him.

After a statement like that he doesn't bother to mention who, nor why they would do a better job than Tite. Just another shitty "corneteiro". Nothing to see here.

Good insight from Mano on why our CFs scored only once in the past 12 WC matches, good discussion after that.

Agree that Tite was largely out-coached throughout the entirety of Russia 2018.
I have seen all 5 Russia 2018 Brazil games many, many times. My conclusion, since we are in Russia, is that every game in the World Cup is like the battle of Stalingrad. More precisely, it is a battle between General Chuikov and Field Marshall von Paulus. Namely, it is a contest between a brawler (Chuikov) and an aristocratic Prussian (von Paulus) who does everything by the book. In a World Cup the brawler usually wins. Tite and Brazil are not brawlers currently, and they must learn. You cannot have a coaches as limited as Martinez and Osorio out-coach and defeat you.
Tite should have done alot better against Belgium but for me the game that set off all the alarms was the first one against the Swiss. Brazil has a good 25 minutes and then nothing. I thought it was just saving energy for the later rounds, but I was wrong. I'm not sophisticated enough to understand, but perhaps the Swiss coach made his adjustments and Tite did not or could not respond.

Mexico had one good patch of play in the first 15 mins ... after that we dominated the game. I don't see how Tite got out coached in that game.

The irony of it all is that since the 80s, Parreira's 94 team was the only team that basically controlled every one of their opponents except for the game vs Holland. The team with Dunga, Mauro Silva, Mazinho, and Zinho midfield. May have had something to do with the opposition we played ... but still.

Brazil was hardly tested for majority of the competition. I don’t see how Tite was outcoached.

Parreira should be credited as the inventor of Tika Taka, albeit a rough, ghetto version of it. 70% of our possession time in 94 was spent exchanging 4 meter passes on midfield.

Your money quote jumped off the screen as I read this editorial, even before I saw you called it the "money quote." By Menon's logic, CBF should have selected a manager who is less experienced and has a lesser resume than Tite because such a manager, without Tite's experience, titles, and schooling (Tite has gone out of his way to learn from other successful managers) because such a manager would have done a better job.

Menon provides no evidence for such an argument. With all due respect to Roger Machado, Cuca, Muricy Ramalho, Abel Braga, none of these managers have done what Tite did in his final yeas as a club manager.

Furthermore, Menon claims that Tite is lauded not because of what he did, but because of what his predecessors nearly did in terms of negative accomplishments - while completely ignoring the fact that upon his arrival to replace Dunga in the 2nd half of 2016, Brazil was in 6th place in WCQ. In the span of a few matches, Brazil was securely in the top 4 and soon afterwards, in 1st place, never to be even threatened by any other CONMEBOL team.

Menon is a very "pacheco" type of commentator. He reminds me a lot of the tupiniquim fans who think nothing from outside can be adopted or learned to make Brazilian soccer even better.

Thankfully, CBF didn't think like Menon.

I mostly agree. Brazil was in control of 3 games. I felt they were out coached in the beginning of the Belgium game. Tite's adjustments were good, but in the end, a 2 goal halftime deficit was always going to be fatal especially against Belgium.

Anyways, looking forward to seeing Brazil's list tomorrow (I'll be going to the game against the US).

I think the team should mostly be the same as the one from the World Cup, although it's crazy how many young attackers we have with plenty of potential - VInicius Jr, Pedro, Richarlison, Malcom, David Neres, Everton. We'll probably see 2 of these guys get called up -- I'm hoping for Pedro and Richarlison personally.

One player to keep in mind that we have to hold onto is Andreas Pereira, who could still switch to Belgium. Brazil needs a #6 midfielder, and he could be the guy. He should be featuring more prominently for United this season and definitely deserves a call up.

    Who will not be called?
Paulinho, Dani Alves, Taison, Fernandinho, .... so at least 4 newbies?
    Did I leave anyone out?

Well, if we go by the World Cup squad (Since Dani Alves wasn't on it)...

Besides Paulinho (Lucas Paqueta), Fernandinho (Arthur), Taison, (Vinicius Jr). I'd probably add Renato Augusto (Fabinho), Douglas Costa (Richarlison or Pedro), Geromel (Luiz Felipe - Italy is monitoring him), Filipe Luis (Alex Sandro or Arana), Fagner or Danilo (Eder MIlitao).

So, we could potentially see 8 new faces.

I don't have much hope for this callup to be honest. Tite doesn't give me confidence that he can bring in fresh, young faces in mass to the set up.

Well, he went with what was familiar to him with only 2 years of work for the 2018 World Cup. I"m pretty hopeful we will see 5 new players who weren't at the World Cup.
