Agreed. Strategy or tactics aside, he was just a boji. And what's not what we need.

This. Well, it's more like shite breeds bigger shite. I wouldn't even consider us to be mediocre and the same applies for Bento Box.

I dont understand why KPG picked Bento over Vahid if Vahid was rly showing interest in us. Bc he got sacked by Japan?

My guess would be that Vahid's lawsuit against JFA has more to do with it than the fact that he was sacked by them.

I can only imagine a man in middle of a legal battle (whether he is personally involved with it or not) only complicates things for Kim Pan Gon.

EDIT: Shame, I saw Halilhodzic as a great candidate for us.

kim pangon spoke to many different managers in the past month some of whom are known to be very capable. bento must have done something right to secure a long term deal. kfa had to hire someone because of the impending deadline but they didnt have to offer anyone a 4 year deal

They were saying bento was the only candidate that took the job interview seriously by bringing all his staff during the meeting. Sounds like a typical emotional feeling that koreans are well versed with (if you know what i mean 감동). This is no different to stielike’s appointment where emotions played a larger role than brains.

the meeting with quique was more of a casual meet up rather than a job interview. I guess KPG wanted to gauge his interest during the meeting. Obviously quique wasnt interested to begin serious talks over managing our NT.

Then he flew all the way to Croatia from Madrid just to meet with Delic but he wanted 4m usd per year. At this point we know the answer to KPG’s mouth. Probably said ok, we will consider and let you know.

Pretty sure Bento learned to hold doors for KPG when they entered the meeting room. The Portuguese knew this would impress Korea's technical director.

    Smart man.

Also, Bento probably practiced with his staff members to nod their heads periodically and give a serious look.

EDIT: Btw, did they meet in Portugal to talk with Bento? If so, I can see how the weather also played a big part in this decision.

Weren't there rumors floating around that KPG contacted Dalic? This was in the earlier phase of the process.

I'll buy 7 of you (first come, first serve) drinks if it turns out not to be Paulo Bento.

He was only listed as far as the rumors went, but that was about it. In the end, Zlatko wasn't even on the list to begin with.

Yeah, $4 million only, not $16 million.
