Estas o te haces? Hugo started looking at new names the minute he was called up. Even Pumas Bicampeon captain, Joaquin Beltran, got a courtesy callup. 3 players doesn't make an alternate squad I agree. Nery was 3rd behind Kikin and Borg on the striker pecking order. Juan Carlos Cacho... No Guardado...Venado and Joyita were first choice for Hugo on left and right flanks. Outside of Rafa, Oswaldo and Torrado, the squad was a big time alternate. Lets remember that Hugo's stated goals were winning 2007 Gold Cup for confeds. Copa America, while great for experience and awesome to see them do well, was not treated the same way by Mexico. You guys might not enjoy the alphabet soup that everybody in the world does, not just the nads, but lets stop pretending that Mexico 2007 squad is the same thing as the nads not having Dempsey and calling it a B squad. I'm sure next they will use Pulisic as the 'B' squad excuse. Hugo was fired for missing Confeds and Olympics. The FMF gave two shits that they obliterated Tata Martino's Paraguay or that they place 3rd in the better competition. Hugo made it obvious which competition was the priority in 2007. Por favor ya no sigan con sus mamadas o me bajo el zipper
WTF are you talking about? No Guardado? He went to both. The only guys who skipped the tournament were Salcido and the Stuttgart players. Borgetti got injured in the gold cup and missed the tournament but he even went with the team to Venezuela, and Kikin, who also got injured. This whole Copa America wasn't important is bs. They went with the best possible squad.
WTF are YOU talkin about? Nery was 3rd behind Kikin and Brogetti. You've admitted already indirectly though. This is the starter and subs for Brazil game. Code: [13] OCHOA Guillermo (Arq.) [5] CASTRO Israel (-74') [2] MAGALLÓN Jonny [4] MÁRQUEZ Rafael [3] PINTO Fausto [20] ARCE Fernando [8] CORREA Jaime [6] TORRADO Gerardo [11] MORALES Ramón (-78') [12] CACHO Juan Carlos (-69') [21] CASTILLO Nery [15] CASTRO José Antonio (+74') [19] BRAVO Omar (+69') [16] LOZANO Jaime (+78') Gold Cup final squad Code: Oswaldo Sánchez Ricardo Osorio Carlos Salcido Rafael Márquez Jonny Magallón Pável Pardo Alberto Medina 77' Jaime Lozano 80' Andrés Guardado Nery Castillo Jared Borgetti 40' Substitutes Cuauhtémoc Blanco 77' Adolfo Bautista 80' Omar Bravo Not just 3 players were switched. Keep saying he treated the tournaments all the same though, maybe someone will change all the evidence of the starting lineups to help your point. The point is FMF fired Hugo over Gold Cup-no Confeds and Olympics. Not Copa America performance. Hugo gave Gold Cup priority. The European based players could get permission for one tournament. Why did Jugo have them choose Gold Cup?
The European players didn't get permission for 1 tournament. They didn't need permission to play the Gold Cup because as Concacaf's regional championship, they were obligated to release them. Because Mexico isn't in CONMEBOL, they weren't forced to release the players and it could've happened just like it did with Vela in 2011, when they sent him to Copa America instead of the Gold Cup and then Arsenal didn't release him so he went to neither. And it was only Stuttgart. Salcido later admitted he skipped it for PSV but in reality ot was because of his clash with Egea in the Gold Cup. Borgetti got injured in the final and Kikin before that (plus I don't know what this thing about Kikin being 2nd behind Borgetti when he didn't start a single game in the Gold cup). And I didn't say it was treated equal but that Mexico sent it best possible squad sans the 3 euros and the injured forwards, which you proven by putting lineups and showing they are the best players. This whole B team thing is bullshit.
We were closer to quarters in 06 than in 14. 06 was lost by a stroke of magic 14 was lost by DT incompetence.
He was the most invisible anyone's been in a Mexico jersey for a while. I think he just came back from injury 2 weeks ago. No business at all being there.
