Due to it's heavy Portuguese influence (even heavier than some Liga NOS teams) i think Wolves deserves a thread in our forum where we can track the progress of it's Portuguese players and the clubs overall progress in the premier league. Forca Wolves!
Moutinho signed? Oh boy! Os Lobos! Where do you think this team finishes? I like that they're young, and nuno is an attacking coach.
This thread was a good idea. I followed Wolves all last season once their surprising Neves purchase went through and I realized the growing Portuguese influence at the club. They were very fun to watch (on and off the pitch thanks to Nuno Espirito Santo) and have made the moves this summer to ensure they shouldn't be at risk of relegation. As luck would have it, Wolves' final preseason friendly was at home vs. Villareal last weekend while I was in the UK and staying about 20 miles away, so I attended. I was happy to see the purchase of Moutinho, but had been cautious about my Premier League expectations for him at this point. That said, he was excellent against Villareal and teamed with Neves nicely. Jota earned a PK (that Neves missed, though he was otherwise very good) and then supplied the assist for the decisive goal after an equalizer that came from a Moutinho assist (corner kick). Patricio made a couple nice saves, Costa was just okay, but got better as the game went, and Cavaleiro only came on late. Wolves fans have embraced the Portuguese players/manager, which is cool to see. There's a Wolves fan website called Molineux Mix with a good message board if anyone cares to keep a closer eye on things. I'll be following the squad weekly, even have the NBC Sports Premier League Pass receipt to prove it.
I checked out the MM forums. I’m happy that they’ve embraced the Portuguese identity their team has taken. There’s one thread though where they’re calling themselves “Los Lobos”. I almost feel like signing up to tell them that they are the developmental program for the Portuguese national team, not Spanish.
5 pork chops in the starting X1 and Vinagre on the bench. Jimenez and Boly also starting, ex friends of our Liga. Should be a good game and hopefully 3 points. Tough test against Marco Silva’s team. Vamos Lobos!
Os Lobos went down 1-0 but Everton saw a straight red in which Neves converted an incredible free kick to equalize.
That was indeed a beautiful free kick from Ruben. Great to see the emotion from him and the coaching staff after the goal. The second half should be Wolves pushing for another goal. Let’s go!
Despite being down a man, Everton is up 2-1 in the 76th min. Wolves really have been disappointing with the man advantage in this half. Vinagre comes on, so there are six Portuguese players of the eleven right now for Wolves.
I warned my friends who support wolves that NES might come a bit unstuck tactically in the premier league, he was very underwhelming in that respect for Porto
