Kekuta Manneh in Canada

The team is one of the smaller ones in the RSL. Often the get loans from their larger neighbor YB of Bern. Here is what the stadium looks like.

Manneh is the 6th striker on the club right now.

 

His situation reminds me of Caleb Stanko two years ago. Also loaned to the RSL at Vaduz, which was a much smaller team. When he finally broke into the lineup he ended up playing 26 games with 1 goal and 4 assists. I hope that he gets his chance. I am sure that he will play in their first Swiss Cup match on 19 Aug vs

Ah, Stanko. A guy who played well in his natural position as a DM, but failed when Freiburg gave him a couple of chances to play CB.

Let's hope they don't try to play Manneh as a CM.

 

An AYSO coach after one training session would know enough not to try and play Manneh at CM.

 

Team won 2-3. They were up 0-3 before letting in 2 goals in the 2nd half.

Manneh did not get off the bench.

Jordi Quintillà, who is an SKC washout who last played for the Puerto Rico Islanders, is starting for St. Gallen.

 

Manneh has speed but in general, doesn’t have a clue. Not someone who can go 90’, either. I see USL in his future or maybe a bench roll in MLS. It seemed promising when he first started playing for Whitecaps but the progress never came.

 

Kekuta completely fell off a cliff in his development. So disappointing and also just a lesson that speed is deceptive as an indicator of potential.

 

I think he could do well for the Lights!

Next match - 19 August at FC Ueberstorf in the Swiss Cup 1st Round. If Mannah does not play in this match, he is in a world of hurts. Uebersroft is in the 2nd Interregional League (5th Division). Match will be streamed free here.

he's fine ...he's making the 18 and i'm sure he'll get his chance eventually.

 

This is another guy I don't really see as making much of an impact. We'll see.

 

I guess what I was implying was that in the first 6 games of the season, he made the bench 5 times, but has yet to get in a match. This last match he did not even make the bench. So if he can not play in cup match against a 5th Division team, that is a sign that the coach does not have much trust in you. That was my point.

 

yeah....makes sense. signs arent looking good...but otoh, he is relatively new to the team/league/country...maybe (hopefully) he just needs a little time to settle in....

YA history is littered with cases of players being buried on the depth chart at the beginning only to rise and become something...so I wouldnt write manneh off just yet ...even if he doesnt play anytime soon.

They were beating 3-0 a team from the fifth tier when Kekuta came in, and the game ended 6-0. Manneh didn't score, no idea if he provided any assists --finding info on this one is hard.

 

He did not have any goals. The match thread is here. The first goals was after 23 seconds in the match! There were actually 2'334 people at the match, the commune only has 2,353! Nice.

 

Gonna be Austin FC's first signing, I suspect.
