So scratching a nanometer into this statement reveals that what actually is the case is that USSF objects to using the word 'Pro' in a league outside of the pro council.

Hardly a case of Iron Fist Cordeiro sending his SUM funded thugs to shut down a rival to MLS.

would tend to believe that any court would find this restriction to be restraint of trade, but hey I'm not a lawyer.

Regardless, it's not the "USSF attempting to prevent the NPSL PRO division from happening", it's the USSF trying to maintain some semblance of consistency in its organization.

Now, if they rename it to NPSL Select or NPSL Elite or whatever and USSF says "you can't do that", there might be something more nefarious going on.

    No, they really aren’t.

They’re saying “If you want to call yourself pro, you actually have to follow the rules that have been set up.”

That’s like saying, “The state of Arizona is attempting to prevent my 14-year-old from becoming a driver.”

But I am sure this is catnip to the prawn idiots and conspiracy theorists right about now.

    Good thing, too.

Until and unless USSF’s power to regulate soccer in this country is settled case law one way or another, you kinda have to go along with what the governing body says are the rules.

That ain’t restraint of eff-all. You don’t have the right to circumvent the sanctioning process without going rogue.

Forgive me if I am mis-remembering, but was WikiMLS the stupid jagov who tried to make a connection between the Pro Council votes in February and who got put on the Hall of Fame ballot this year?

If it was, ******** that guy.

The general tenor of the tweets that I looked at from this person make me think that if it's not the same person, they certainly subscribe to their newsletter.

Update on NPSL-pro: Multiple sources tell me that interested owners will be meeting in NYC next week to discuss options. Nothing is decided yet, but all of them continue to say, ‘now or never’, or some variant of that. #NPSLpro

Zombie Cosmos continue! Still, glad to see San Diego finally have a pro team, even if about as low as you can get and still be considered pro.
