The right side suffered moreso because of Alves injury than the midfield but before the World Cup I said If Tite made one mistake with the callups; it was his midfield lack variety. In essence all the midfielders lack creativity. Taison was a giant waste of space and maybe Arthur would of been beneficial.

It is possible fatigue played a role in Coutinho starting to get sluggish in midfield. Not only because of his work defensively but at times he stayed back while Paulinho went forward.

Brazil need a 21st century midfield playmaker. We don't have any. Will Arthur develop into a superstar in the next four years? Only time will tell, but besides him, who else could fill this role?

We also need a true number 9, a battering ram kind. Diego Costa could have been this guy for the last 8 years, but that ship has sailed. We've always produced number 9s but for some reason the well has dried.

I was watching Luis Fabiano`s goals against Ivory Coast in 2010 and came to the conclusion that nobody in our team today could score those kinds of goals. And if I ask people on this board if they miss Luis Fabiano, I guarantee that almost nobody does.

Tite would have been better off keeping this to himself. Why admit you knowingly brought an injured player?

Arthur going to Barca under Valverde is a mistake. Watch Jorginho explode under Pep next season. I had massive hopes for Lucas Silva but then Real Madrid happened and he has been missing ever since.

Ok guys see you again in 2022. Hopefully we get our hexa that time. Too disappointed to comment on anything else now.

    Sorry for this loss guys.

The absense of Casemiro was too hard to overcome.

It was the single most determining factor. He brings stability in the defence AND the midfield.

Tite will probably be sacked but it will be the wrong decision IMHO.

I am a general after the battle, but I think the main mistake was the same tactics 4 3 3 in every match. Like Scolari. It would be better 3 5 2 against Belgium, because they have very strong midfield. My line up Allison - Marquinhos Miranda Thiago Silva - Douglas Costa Paulinho Fred Coutinho Marcelo - Neymar Gabriel Jesus.
But on the other sice Belgium wasn' t better team. The most important moment was Fernandinho' s goal.

Brazil 2006 was the team of great names but Ronaldo was fat and slow, Ronaldinho was out of shape and Cafu and Roberto Carlos were past their best. On 2018 World Cup brazilian team played better football.

I don’t know how he fix it other than reinserting Renato Augusto for Willian and playing Coutinho on the right. You could get away with it then because RA hardly venture forward and more natural at the CM than Coutinho.

I know they won’t but FIFA or the Match officials need to explain why VAR wasn’t used. Almost everyone is saying it was a pen.

I agree. As much as I don’t rate him, he did an admirable job. I hope he isn’t in the long term plans of the team, but I can’t make up things to criticize him yesterday.

Augusto hasn’t seen any matches before the Cup because of injury. There was no way he was going to start any games for us without good match fitness.

Tite defended Fernandinho at the presser, but I hope behind the scenes he is phasing him out. Fabinho didn’t get any chances with him and now with the move to Liverpool, if Fabinho performs well there, he should be the immediate reserve for Casemiro.

Gutted about the result. Very sad.
As some have said, you need many things to go well to win a World Cup so you also need many things to go wrong to lose a game and an World Cup.
The discussion here has already touched on all the things that went wrong, except that I heard a story about Marcelo and Tite. Apparently Marcelo thought he was going to play the Mexico game. When that did not happen, Marcelo got very angry. I guess that's one of the reasons Tite put him against Belgium. I don't think Marcelo was that horrible but why would you take out Filipe Luis ( who was playing quite well) just to appease Marcelo. Kinda weak from Tite IMHO.

The Future: For me, only 4 players stand a chance to reach Qatar 22. Neymar, Coutinho, Casemiro, and Marquinhos. That's it. Eventually almost the entire team will have to be replaced. In that vein, I hope the CBF and the coaching staff are brave and innovative. I hope that they test many players, no matter their age. I hope that players like Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo (spelling?) go through the U20 team and eventually (before Qatar 22) moved into the senior team.
I'm not Brazilian. I have visited Brazil countless times and I love Brazil. My first true love in football was Romario. This is why I'm a fan of the Brazil National Team forever.

Gabriel Jesus I think will reach 2022, though maybe not as starter. He’s still developing and could be on peak condition in 4 years.

For Copa America 19 and some of qualifiers I’m keeping everyone except Fagner, Fernandinho, Danilo, Geromel, Taison, Miranda, Renato Augusto, Paulinho, Filipe Luis and possibly Willian depends on form.

The rest of qualifiers and 2022, TS and Alves most likely retires, Marcelo is also a possibility.

Gradually depending on how good they are maybe start phasing in the likes of Fabinho, Allan, Malcom, David Neres, Paqueta, Guilherme Arana, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Jorge, Alex Sandro and whoever pops up then.

Can we talk more of Alisson and his lackluster display. I mean I know he didn't have much to work with in the first few games but I expected much better than what we saw when he did have to make saves.

Nothing was really his fault . He wasn’t really tested.
