Willian looked like a totally formatted version today.

And also when he takes his own shot on goal. This will give defenders more to think about when one-on-one. Up until today it was always drive to the right and cross.

Now for G. Jesus to really get going. He hasn't been bad, but ......

TS favoring his left rib cage as he was getting off the field. I hope its not broken rib.

Gabriel Jesus hasn’t gotten going. Yeah, he work extremely hard but the overall performance was meh, again. I don’t think Tite should wait around anymore. It’s time to pull the trigger.

So much to say. Thought it was our best game so far. Especially impressed by our emotional control and the first goal.

For now: watching Osorio whine about the arbitragem at the press conference and essentially blaming it for Mexico's loss.

He called the pisada na canela do Neymar (at least a yellow) palhaçada. Today isn't going to be about that. Congrats to Mexico for the good, tough game.

That Firmino goal was Jesus if he hadn’t gotten pulled back. We will see. I trust Tite to make the right move and I am ok either way .

How did that not get flagged by VAR? Was there a sense that not enough of Layun's weight was transferred on to the prone Neymar? I hope that's not the reasoning.

The subjective part should have been the color of the card. I agree with you on a yellow.

He can fuk off. Regardless of theatrics, that deserved a red . That wasn’t much different than Felipe Melos stomp in 2010. Only problem is Neymar overselling it.

We’ve heard before that for a red To be given, intention is all that’s needed.

Great point. I took a look at Melo's "stomp" and it really isn't that much different. Layun's was looked even more intentional. Melo tried going for the ball.

I would have been OK with a red. But it deserved at least a yellow to make clear that it was seen and would not be tolerated.

I thought the yellows on Casemiro and Filipe Luis were a bit harsh, but fair. Aside from the error on the stepping incident, the arbitragem was pretty decent. Don't know what Osorio is on. Maybe it's just me, but I think a tecnico should publicly take more responsibility for the loss on himself and congratulate his players—who didn't commit any glaring errors, but were simply outclassed and outplayed by a better side.

I'm glad Neymar did not lose his cool and the Mexicans sure tried to get him to lose his temper. We lose Casemiro for the quarterfinal but Fernandinho should do a decent job of replacing him.

The team overall played well. No panicking when Mexico blitzed us, the defense yet again trustworthy, Willian (!) playing as we all hoped he would, and Firming with instant offense off the bench.

Willian Man of the Match for me. Fantastic game.
Fagner had a bad first half and a great second.
Too bad Casemiro will be suspended for the Quarters.
Neymar seems to be getting better.
Strangely, Coutinho did not have a great game but he'll do better.

Right. But I predict that Fernandinho will have the game of his life against Belgium or Japan.

I am pissed about Casemiro because I’ve seen more than once already a ref swallow his whistle to not get a player suspended . I think yesterday a foul on Carvajal was much worse and didn’t even get a yellow. But maybe it will be a blessing as he would be guaranteed in the SF.

The defense is absolutely class...sheer class. Silva miranda combo is the best. Alisson was almost a spectator for most part of the match

Fagner did better in the second half but if Belgium goes through do you want Hazard in those 1-1 with Fagner that has the potential to be like Robben vs Bastos in 2010.
