Now I am in Volgograd. Already over 30 degrees and I believe it will be 40+ on the field at kick off time. Extremely tough condition for both sides.
40+ degrees affect both sides. I think it will be very rare such an extreme environment not only for Japanese but Poland players. And maybe you don't know J-league play in July and August with 30+ condition even in night games. In Tokyo, mid-day temperature reaches 30 degrees everyday this week. It will be hotter than Warsaw. But I have to say a difference. Volgograd is dry. Tokyo is more wet. I hope Japan's +3pts off course.
Good luck to Japan. Don't fck it up now. They must cash in the cheque before it expires. Don't know which match to watch. Clearly the Colombia v Senegal game is more likely to be the more enjoyable game, both team plays the most attractive football (yet contrasting) in the group and they are in a winner takes all 3rd match against each other. However it would be nice to watch Japan beat Poland. No Red cards please.
Cant believe Poland got Nil points with 5 goals let in and only 1 goal in reply. What was their ranking again b4 the WC? 8? It wasn't hard to decipher the ranking was a load of bull especially with Poland not playing any games for a whole year....but did Poland really deserved to be the top seed?
Careful Japan - Poland have a dendancy to lose their first 2 world cup games and win their third. They did it in 2002 vs USA, and in 2006 vs Costa Rica.
On the evidence of 1st 30min of this match it seems Poland doesnt care to try and redeem itself. Noone is running. All jogging. Ive swotched over to the other match.
Just saw a replay of the Poland chance that almost crossed the line. Not at all impressed with the Japan goalie.
Japan I guess knows they have the tie break on Senegal and are just kicking around. Nervy. if Senegal score, Japan will have itself to blame. Honestly.
And Poland continue their tradition of losing their first two games then winning their third. Meanwhile, Japan survives - oh well, at least the stadiums will be clean...
Congrats Japan. But this match sure was dire especially the last 15min of 'lets not play' anti-football collusion. Its understandable (well a little) why Japan did what they did, but Poland? Do they really think 3pts from that kind of a match will really save themselves from their fans when they return home? At least Japan lives another day to face England/Belgium and redeem themselves from the anti football but for Poland this was their last chance to show something and they decided a paper 1-0 win was all what they were worth. This group fizzled out. Big disappointment.
Fair Play points - Japan had less yellow cards. Ironic given they decided play against the spirit of football for the last 15min in order to use that Fair Play points.
True, but to be fair a lot of teams use a range of grass-rolling and delay tactics. Japan passed the ball around in open play and Poland could have attacked if they wanted to.
yes thats why it was even more anti-football....two teams blatantly colluding to not play for 15min. BBC commentators kept bringing up the fact the last time it happened at a WC was Germany - Austria in 1982 which was heavily criticized and led to FIFA changing the rules so that the 3rd final match at group stages are played simultaneously. Algeria was the team that suffered back then.
Just back from the stadium. Game sucks. But 100 times better than kicked out from this tournament. Poland eliminated. Senegal eliminated. Germany eliminated. We are still alive. And also could give rest to important players. Sweet sweet 16. Next stop, Rostov. I want to date with ENGLAND !
