Nothing's confirmed until it's made official through the media. His contract has ended as far as it's concerned.
I'm too familiar with the korean ajjushi thought process. These guys WANT and LIKE STY. Winning against Germany only gives them a strong safety cushion to extend his contract while the Korean sheep are in euphoria.
For someone who values results and performance, Kim Pan-gon should be smart enough not to extent Shin Tae-yong's contract.
If STY had any dignity, he would've held a press conference after the game to announce his resignation like a badass. Wouldn't be any surprise to me if he gets an extension though.
Shin Taeyoung, you can die as a hero if you just quit now. We'll always thank you for this victory but extend you'll live as a villain for not getting us through the qualifier. Choose wisely.
Tragically I think him beating the real Löw has gotten to his head. STY to stay on until we fail to qualify for 2022.
If STY is smart, he will go out in a blaze of glory. Much better for his career. NT job is kind of cursed.
I'm just hoping some Chinese team take him. Give him a huge multimillion dollar contract. We just need to convince them he's really good and signing him will fck our national team (you know they like to see us lose).
"you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." This quote applies to you STY!!
Shin Tae-yong is looking to get sacked after arriving on the 29th. His contract will end on July 31, 2018.
Don't want to defend STY... Both STY and HMB had 1 year to prepare for their World Cup. STY probably had a tougher group. This is debatable. HMB also used most of his players from the Olympic team that won the Bronze. STY had 3 points, beating tough Germany. HMB had 1 point, in an easier (?) group.
They're going to decide on the coach after June 29 when they return home. Shin's contract ends July 31.
Sweden is pretty sh*t. Mexico has been underwhelming. Germany was utter cr*p. This was honestly the easiest group we could have wished for.
STY has been assistant to Shitlike so he's completely familiar with the team and players. An extra 3 years wouldn't have changed his lineups and call ups. Let's call it what it is - he's shit.
The Algerians were much tougher during that time frame under Halilhodzic than Sweden, Mexico, or Germany is currently.
I agree. His player selections and tactics were not good. Zero creativity offensively. I too, don't want him back. I'm just stating facts tho.
But we need long balls to our players who can actually launch counters, instead of Jang Hyunsoo's aimless punts that just let the Swedes come back at us. I think choice of formation would depend, among other things, on how KCH and LJS develop.
I really hope KYK can go to Europe though...I don't think it'll happen but still. It'll really elevate his level, and I think he's good enough. Both him and HJH were the only two CBs that had the potential to play in Europe. I thought he was going to Greece? Maybe he should try for Turkey? He'll be 32 next world cup which is good age for defender. Pair him up with a young stopper and we'll be golden.
