Yes, but they have been hating on Brazil for a long time now.

Like the yellow cards discussed above, to many Guardian readers it is worse to embellish a foul than to cynically cut someone down. Its a different way of viewing the game.

These are the same people (assuming they are British) who applaud and admire players who give a rough slide tackle even if it's a foul. It's a completely different concept of football.

    Exactly.

Bet you if given truth serum they'd swap Neymar for Dele Alli in a heartbeat.

Dele Alli is a good player btw.

Brits and Mexicans are our biggest closet haters.

Brits hate us in every sport., they're still mad at Senna for being "dirty". They will tell you that Prost arguably crashed onto Senna unintentionally in '89. The 2010 documentary revived their hatred lol.

I saw the '16 Olympic final PKs in a convenience store in Tarzana near a bunch of Mexicans, you should've seen their faces when Neymar scored the winner, it was like they had just been knocked out of the WC in r16 like they almost always do.

Strange that you say that about the mexicans, since our greatest squad of all time famously enchanted mexicans in 1970.

Must be a millenial thing. I guess millenials mexican fans tend to think themselves as a world football power, not merely a regional one which they are.

Maybe it's only US based Mexicans who have a chip on their shoulders.

I don't blame any of them really. Neymar is an easy character to dislike. I don't like him myself and I'd really dislike him even more if he was from another country. It's interesting that you can disdain a whole team because of one player.

I just read that he is paying for 2 personal stylists to stay at luxury hotels and follow him during the WC. :ROFLMAO:

Good game from Brazil. CR was playing for a draw.

The 2nd half was great and Costa made a big difference by adding a threat to the right than Willian couldn't do for some reason.

Great showing by Neymar considering he's not a 100%

Next game vs Serbia, Brazil should win but Serbia is even tougher at tackles than the Swiss.

However Serbia is in a must win situation so they can't afford to sit back, which opens the game which in turn favors Brazil.

BTW I've been following some of Brazil's main sports commentators, and I understand why Ney was so emotional. Some of those guys have no mercy on him and don't even consider the fact that Ney is not 100% fit and is likely playing hurt!

Anyway Brazil will be fine. I hope they go all the way.

Some good last round matches shaping next week.

I love his commentary. He tells it like it is and doesn't spare anyone.
