How did Neves not get picked ahead of this heap of mediocre crap we pass off as a midfield?

The fullbacks were also garbage today. I'll give Guerreiro a pass but Cedric is an average player and for him to have the starting RB position locked down, there's something wrong there. Ricardo makes one mistake in a friendly and everyone dismisses his ability as a starter despite the fact the past couple of years prove he's easily the better player. Not to mention, he can play LB as well. He should be the back up to Guerreiro and Semedo should have taken Mario Rui's spot and probably be starting.

It's hard to enjoy that win today. If there was anything positive I wouldn't care because it's the World Cup and a win is a win, but ******** me that was difficult to watch.

Apparently he gave the side 6/10 for the first game I think we would give 3/10 for this one.

    Calm down bros

We got the win and that's what matters

Tournaments aren't won in the group stage don't y'all remember 2016?

I agree Sanchez should have been called but hey

Morocco is a tuff team and we got an early goal, took our foot off the past

I think we will have a easier time with Iran

Andre silva and my boy Quaresma need to start next game

Quaresma starting might be just the thing, he hás 0 minutes so far, and our attacking midfielders have been shocking, so why not?

Quaresma played the final 26 minutes (including added time) against Spain. I too think he might deserve a start against Iran, though. He'd put pressure on the defense, he has a good work rate, he's got killer delivery into the box (huge when Iran is pinned back) and (most importantly) Bernardo has played poorly.

Agree, Renata Sanches even in bad form could have been useful on this team.

Forgot about that, been watching so many games it is becoming a blurr

One thing is for certain I wont be watching a repeat of todays game ever.

We know Quaresma often does finds Ronaldo for a goal, Iran Will need two goals then, but with our defense and midfield at the moment, conceding two goals against Iran is not far fetched, still a bit improbable IMO.

Not gonna lie.. i am a bit worried about this midfield moving forward.

If our wingers were playing better ,this wouldnt be such an issue.. even if one of them was playing well.. but man.. both have been horrible.

In the case of B.Silva, i legit think its a matter of nerves being in the WC..

if you follow him on instagram.. ederson.. the rest of the man city boys.. he really seems to get picked on.. and though its all in good fun.. he never really puts up a fight.. just accepts in..

looks the same on the field.. hes the small friend we all pick on cuz we know he wont fight back and its all in good fun..

Someone doesn't remember 2016 alright, we dominated play and chances all 3 games, here we have been pushed around and lucky as hell to have 4 points.

SancheS was horrible at the U21 euro and was a joke for Swansea. He didn't play and was injured for a time before being sent home early and you want him at the World cup?

We didn't take our foot off any pedal, we were out played out ran and out chanced. Iran will be a night mare based on how they played vs Spain (I'm guessing you skipped that game)

Andre Silva should start and Quaresma saved for the last half hour and I hope to hell we don't need him as Iran's defense is no joke and if we need to score that late the odds are we are going home way sooner than expected.

Why are we surprised? Iran/Morocco play structured defence... Its gonna be even harder against Iran.

People are saying that the "inexperience" is what's hurting Portugal... I tend to agree but make no mistake both Iran/Morocco are known for sturdy D, these games are ugly but we have to grind out wins.

I've noticed all the abuse he's been targeted with. Though it is to be "just kidding", I've found it to go a little far

Agreed, chop. Crazy WC, a lot of the favorites are struggling.

Putin must be onto something BC Russia are on fire, and the big teams are lackluster at best. Would not surprise me if Croatia beats Arg.

He is too much of a Nice Guy, people are vultures, you have to have the skin of steel, he cares too much about what other people think and he thinks too much about other people, he hás to learn from Pepe, not kidding, and Ronaldo (absolute determination) to get to the top and stay there you have to be ruthless. These guys teasing him are not his friends, true friends are if you are lucky a handful in a lifetime.

Against Iran, if he starts he Will get more time on the ball as vs Spain and Morocco he and Mário apart from the WC pressure where under close attention, against Iran he Will probably have time for a few touches early in the game to ease himself in, Mário too if he starts. If that happens we Will start to see the Bernardo we know. Remembre he also had quite a few games at the begining for Portugal where he under-performed, but in the WC he is not going to get 10 games to get use to it, step up Bernardo ;)

I feel like it's about the same either way. I think Russia's actually slightly better playing at home, but it's no material difference either way. Winning the group could make a big difference for the following rounds though.

    If we win the group
Projected most likely QF matchup: Croatia or Denmark
Projected most likely SF matchup: England, Switzerland, or Mexico

    If we finish 2nd
Projected most likely QF matchup: France or Argentina
Projected most likely SF matchup: Brazil, Belgium, or Germany

Bernardo Silva seems to be from a nice family and football in France, and I am assuming in England too is ghettolicious world. When CR7 first moved to Lisboa from Madeira, people would make fun of his accent. But that feeling helped him be stronger to power through all the critics ( and god knows there are) and building a determination that's no ordinary. I hope BS does the same and doesn't let this stuff affect his performance because he is a diamond.

Well my family is not Nice :ROFLMAO: but coming from South África to England I also had to learn the hard way just how cynical people here are, they Will use anything to put you Down even if it does not help them, but it makes them feel good, especially the working class, which I am also part of, as they and most of the footballers do not have education and so everything is psychological. He Will have to toughen up quickly, his time as a footballer is maybe tops another 15 years which sounds plenty but ask any middle age person and they Will tell, where did all the years go, it is almost like the time goês quicker :D
