They don't watch other teams besides Real Madrid and Barca/ seleção. Even celito who browses big soccer all day is in Shock.

It was slack marking coupled with poor goalkeeping but it was no “feather” of a push. It was two hands, hard push to Miranda’s back, to gain enough space for a clear, uncontested header.

You're probably right on the Alisson part since it was a driven cross. I still think that's a foul even if it's not the strongest push. It doesn't have to be a strong push to gain a clear advantage in that case.

Tite seemed very neurotic about conserving energy and peaking in the later stages. When Switzerland scored the equalizer, the first thing in his mind was to sub out Casemiro who was yellow carded lol. It didn't pay off , they're going into the next 2 group stage games with tons more pressure when they could've (imo) easily liquidated Switzerland in the first half and secured the 3 points.

There are diminishing benefits to caution as with everything else.

We played a WC debut at the pace of a friendly match in the summer of Salvador BA. I've never seen anything like it. Not even Parreira's WC teams were this lethargic.

    Fabio Sormani is absolutely right:

Yeah, watched the game again and not as bad as I initially thought. Up to the goal I was really liking how we were playing. After the goal I thought we could have kept it up to kill the game off but decided to absorb some pressure and counter. But there were some sloppy passes off the back that killed any chance of a good counter. Probably unlucky not to score a winning goal later in the 2nd half.

I thought Casemiro, Thiago Silva, and Coutinho had great games. Some people said Coutinho disappeared in the 2nd half but he did a lot of good distribution.

Overall the defense was good. Marcelo was absolutely awful with his passing. Must have misplaced 6 or 7 passes. Danilo wasn't a problem at all on defense.

I didn't think Jesus was bad, just didn't get many good chances. Had a few bright moments here and there. I'd still go with him going forward. And Renato Augusto came in OK too. Had that nice pass to Jesus where he asked for a PK ... which I don't think it was.

Neymar did seem off but he was also very well marked ... although often with a foul. I am glad he kept his cool but his overreactions won't be helping him. I can see him losing his temper in the dying minutes of a game where we are being knocked out.

The first half was nice in general. In the later part of the second half, Brazil were unlucky not to score (shots going marginally wide, a couple of nice saves by the Swiss keeper). I can't be too disappointed with the glossing over of the fouls on Miranda and G Jesus by the ref. They were debatable (not certain mistakes). I was happy with Danilo. Not comparable with Alves offensively but solid defensively. If that is how things are going to be, we have less of a worry for the RB position. Now, all we need to think about is how to create from the right and the midfield. On the right, D Costa would help if Willian isn't working. There is probably no answer to the midfield issue. An Arthur or Ganso type (but faster) player was needed. Coutinho probably isn't the answer. The left side will work itself out with Neymar gaining match fitness. I thought Marcelo was okay (not vintage but still). What's wrong with G Jesus? He received some nice opportunities to run on goal but couldn't (with poor touches). Hope he improves quickly. A lot depends on him scoring.

I've watched the first 25 minutes of the game and it felt eerily similar to the first half of the QF game against Netherlands in South Africa 2010.
I'm not worried about Costa Rica, I think Brazil will win that one. Against Serbia, I don't know. I'm sure those guys will foul like crazy and may get lucky with a free-kick or a corner. Hopefully Tite has done his homework.
I'm also worried that Casemiro has a yellow and I don't trust Fernandinho, he's too vulnerable to yellow and red cards.

I agree, Douglas Costa, if fit, should be introduced into the line-up somehow.

According to ESPN, Neymar was fouled 10 times in this match vs Switzerland, most for any player in a World Cup match since Alan Shearer was fouled 11 times against Tunisia on June 15, 1998. Moreover, Neymar also suffered more fouls than any other Brazilian since (Pele in) 1966.

Well it was a really poor tactical error in the part of Tite in trying to hold on into the 1 nil score.

That Mexican referee was disgusting and clearly trying to help Mexico in the rounds of 16.

My GOD, the fouling and hacking on Neymar was insane.
Why the hell take Casemiro out ! I think that substitution killed us.

Tite probably didn’t want to risk him getting sent off. The ref was crap. Since when can you pull someone jersey and not get book.

Provided we qualify ( i am sure we will ) which team will we prefer germany or Mexico ? I think germany is better because we always face problems vs Mexico . Moreover they will now play with huge self belief. Additionally they will play without pressure since nobody expects them to win the whole thing.

On one hand, I want Germany. To be the best you have to beat the best.

But on the other hand, Brazil getting outed in R16 by Germany of all teams would be extremely disappointing and would probably cost Tite his job. A few good displays and then being outed in the semis/final may better at least to me.

It seems like Tite is feeling the nerves because the subs and the decision to try to keep that 1-0 scoreline yesterday were a bit shocking.

This Germany team is messy, old, slow and full of infighting among themselves. That’s a team I want to face.

Mexico always gives us problems, regardless of the state of the national team.

I still think Germany will draw with Sweden and be eliminated, so this choice wont materialize.

Even if germany draws vs sweden its elimination is not confirmed.....Sweden has to beat Mexico for that freaky incident to take place.

They will just need a draw against an already classified team (provided Mexico beats South Korea in round 2, which is very likely).
