Now coming back to senses, following strategy should be adopted without fail from now onwards:
    1. Saudi should play with Yasser Al Musailem as the Goal Keeper.
    2. Also, should play with 2 strikers, 3 Mid Fielders and 5 Defenders in the remaining matches of the World Cup.

Because people here are too optimistic and for no reason.
Nothing at all has changed in the last 20 years so why do we expect anything different at the WC?
Same amateurish team upper management and media. zero investment in youth programs. Nothing at all has improved.
So why do we expect better results and performance from the 98 to 06 teams?
We should hope for one respectable loss and one tie to save face. I was hoping the respectable loss to be today but...
It was possible if we played compact defensive football with all players behind the ball like in 94 and 98. But the ego was too strong and we played with too much space between the lines. Exact same mistake as 02, except Russia is not as strong as Germany. That's all.
Saudi fans need to wake up and understand that we will never amount to anything with the way football is managed, which the year is even worse than before.
Talking about which player to pick and at which position to play is futile.

May be if following strategy is applied in remaining matches then who knows, Saudi might be in the round of 16 in this world cup:
    1. Saudi should play with Yasser Al Musailem as the Goal Keeper.
    2. Also, should play with 2 strikers, 3 Mid Fielders and 5 Defenders in the remaining matches of the World Cup.

    I 100% agree with @adelo above.
The thing was a bit optimistic about this WC was fans were hoping Russia is beatable and they can qualify to next round easily .
But deep inside if we analyze things have not changed . Same FA politics , same favoritism for few club players etc etc .

The disaster started when BVM was off the job and hopelessly they appointed Bauza just coz he defeated KSA with UAE team.. BVM must be laughing his ass off now..

I guess Saudi FA will either fire the coach shortly OR may be after the game against Uruguay...

Let's hope that the match b/w Uruguay & Egypt ends in a draw so that Saudi Arabia might have some chance to qualify to the next round with a win over Uruguay (by playing counter-attacking game against Uruguay and playing defensively entire match as Saudi did in World Cup 1994) and then a win or draw against Egypt should be sufficient to qualify to the round of 16...

Yes, above seems to be optimistic approach after 5-0 loss against Russia but still, it is achievable.

I agree that Jahfli should have had played in the World Cup, and should have replaced Umar Howsavi who I believe is clumsy and stupid defender, and Umar Howsavi's stupidity showed in today's match against Russia... Not sure why the coach did not substituted him when clearly he was out of his senses in playing too many wrong and lose passes, not defending well and being clumsy and slow on the field. Next was Yahya and then Faraj...

Also no offense, but my god are saudis physically so thin and weak. Do under 16 coaches not encourage strength training at all? The players are like litteral toothpicks out there with a very few exception (dawsari, Muwalad, behebri) who all have impressive core strength that allows them to win balls.

The rest just flat out malnourished.

Saudi is also looking like they're taking a step back by letting Turki run rampant with his WWE decision making for club teams.

    Yasser Al-Qhatani "Imaat"...

The reason why people are blindsided with the real problem is because the people who are responsie are above public critisicm.

I am hoping for Aus to qualify too for the same exact reasons but we know Turki is gonna come up with some excuse and everyone will be on their knees after that.

Heck the royal families used to get criticised albeit not directly before. Now you cant even say one single word about the system.

Another reason is that Saudis look at japan, Korea etc and think because we competed against them that must mean they're close.

The Japanese tend to be shorter too, but they do have stronger lower body cores.

Saudis need to be doing some light squats and deadlifts as 14-16 year olds.

I wonder if the hawsawis can even deadlift their weight...

Also the Saudis are like the panama of Asia now.

While Japan, Korea, Iran etc all have made progress. The saudis have been stuck.

Just like Panama can compete in CONCAF but come international games time its only the US/Mexico really competing.

    So amaturish.

OK ALL, now the Russia match is over, let's see what Strategy, Plan and Style Saudi National Team can play with in the remainder of the Group Matches against Uruguay and Egypt...

Firstly, Saudi FA and / or Saudi Coach should spy and see the match being played between Uruguay and Egypt... this will give Saudi National Team advance knowledge of opponent game play.

Secondly, Saudi Coach should change gear by switching the style and formation of play i.e.,
    • Play with 2 Forwards, 3 Mid-Fielders (2 holding mid-field players & 1 attacking mid-fielder), 5 Defenders and Yasser Al Musailem as Goal Keeper
    • The 5 defenders should be Buraik, Bulaihi/Moataz, Osama Howsavi, Mansoor Harbi, Yasir Al Shahrani... The duffer Umar Howsavi should warm the bench and should not play in important games
    • If the match between Egypt and Uruguay ends in a draw then this will be blessing in disguise for Saudi Arabia hence, Saudi style of play should be 'Defensive' (the way it was in World Cup USA 1994), and Saudi Should go for Counter-Attacking football while playing Defensively... This will put pressure on opposing team as they will be more eager to nab Saudi with as many goals as possible but will leave space at the back and with Saudi having many pacy players such as Muwallad, Dowsari, Bahberi then Saudi can take advantage and score a goal or two and defend it.
    • Yahya Shehri to be replaced by Bahberi OR Sahlawi to play in Yahya Shehri's position
    • The players on the field with 2-3-5-1 formation should be: Sahlawi, Muwallad - Dowsari, Taiseer, Autef - Buraik, Bulaihi/Moataz, Osama, Mansoor, Shahrani - Musailem
    • Sahlawi to be replaced by Bahebri in the 2nd half.

    What you say ?

    Turki takes blame...Not.

Lol says he takes responsibility but blames everyone not named turki.

Omar, Sheri, sahlawhi all need to be benched. Gotta give others a chance.

I disagree with the "what did you expect" comments. I expected better. It's one thing to lose by being outplayed, the shameful display yesterday is another thing entirely.
Blaming a lack development / stability / professionalism is not an excuse in my eyes. I expect teams like Iceland to be soundly beaten by superior opposition, but they will go down fighting. Not gift easy goals.

Turki al-Sheikh and Adel Izzat can talk tough all they want, they need to own it as much as the players.

Was Adel part of managment before qualifying? I know there was tons of changes after.

Its like they just took the credit away from the people that actually got them....

But lets be honest here, omar hawsawi probably caused 5 of those goals with his sloppiness.

    Lol.

Talk about stealing other peoples thunder.

You cant just do that. Thats Grade A level unproffesional and societal power tripping.

How can Saudi expect long term improvments if stuff like this still happens?

Why Was Ahamd eid let go anyway?

We are out of the WC. I can't see the Saudi team capable of bouncing back from yesterday's defeat.

    Blame Turki.

Turki Al Sheik Single handidly ruin any semblance of continuity. Left The best players rusting in spain in what many consider the dumbest of all time.

You cant have fanboys run the organization but I get it..he's an Al-Sheik. He's practiclly royalty.

If lack of continuity is affecting supreme talents like Spain how much more saudi?

Only if the org is run by the people and the heads become accountable saudi football is n gonna improve. Its all cultural at this point.

Turki is even bullying Clubs now. He is running Al-Ahli, Hilal, etc business.

It was right for the prince to resign after Turki placed his hands on all the hilal matters.

The worst news is that turki is gonna be in charge for generations to come.

Saudi Arabia plays Uruguay next... And just see this friendly match played between Saudi x Uruguay in 2002 ... Saudi won at that time by 3 goals to 2 but the main thing was motivation, dedication, speed and spirit of the Saudi players that made them come back from behind to score 3 goals and that too in the first half.
Uruguay only score a consolation 2nd goal in the 2nd half... If Saudi can do that earlier then I pray and hope that history repeats itself... just see the highlights of that match from following link:

So after settling down nerves and anger for two days and watching Egypt vs Uruguay, one thing as I said before is Uruguay is beatable if not Atleast hold on for draw.

Pizzi has played Uruguay before with Chile and might have slight knowledge about them.Fahd has too played against them and scored goals but the level was different But still it gives confidence .

I am expecting few changes in the next game.
    Musailem for Mayouf
    Moataz for Omar
    Mansour for Buraik
    Hattan Bahabri for Otayf
    Fahd for Sahlawi
