Friendlies at this stage are of benefit to test Plan B and Plan C after a Plan A has been deeply imbedded in the DNA of the team. We are using these friendlies to desperately search for a Plan A. Noted that we have key players injured, but if management had done their job and imbedded a core philosophy throughout the squad months ago, it's a matter of replacing parts. We have not had the same starting 11 back to back. Every game there is a new face, a new formation, players in new positions, different tactical attempts. No way we can build cohesion this way. This team is a mess. The only way I can see us getting positive results is based on individual brilliance. Make no mistake, we are in trouble.
This is Shin Tae-yong, a manager known to stepping on players through the media. Kim Shin-wook has fallen victim to him this time around, not too long ago Oh Ban-suk and Yun Young-sun were the scapegoat to his idiocy of utilizing the 3 back vs Bosnia. He also made Son his scapegoat during one of the friendlies last year.
Hope he says "it was all a trick, wasn't even planning on selecting KSW, I'm kicking him out". Then he brings SHJ. That's the only trick I'm willing to accept.
From the look of things though, many of our players did seem heavy footed... Maybe it has something to do with their conditioning training. Also: Shin Tae-yong on starting Kim Shin-wook against Bolivia: "You can consider it a trick. I wanted to see how he'd combine with Hwang Hee-chan. Today's lineup was based on some additional ideas to what I've already had in mind. That's as much as I can reveal for now."— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) June 7, 2018 WTF??? Shin Tae-yong after the 0-0 draw against Bolivia: "Everything is going well according to our plans. Being 100% physically now could actually work against us once the World Cup starts."— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) June 7, 2018 -_- Ki Sung-yueng after Bolivia: "During qualifying, I made a promise to our fans that we'll be better. I feel like I've turned out to be a liar, so it's been difficult. I'm going to put everything on the line. If things go wrong at the World Cup, I'll be responsible for it."— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) June 7, 2018 :'(
Wow I've been around these boards since post 2002 but this is the most depressing and hopeless I've seen things get. We have the players and the talent that we had when we were flying high just a few years ago. The players haven't changed all that much. Don't forget where the rot starts. The drastic downturn in form started with Shitlick and the massive corruption scandal and we have not recovered our normal form since. The issue is not tactics, lack of talented pool. We've never had them to begin with but KNT pulled it together when it came to WC. Asia based squaddies were never great but when they're part of a team with usual KNT confidence and form, they were passable and functional but in our current state, the entire team from defense, midfield, STY, and even Son are all not playing well, doing well, unstable in morale and mentality. This is terrible. KFA needs genuine reform for Korean football to recover and find a level of functionality. Final friendly that open to the public and we're playing Bolivia? Are you fng kidding me? Things are seriously wrong here. KFA never reformed and we're being lulled into accepting the rotten state of affairs with WC. This is BS.
There's this Mexican player named Jimenez, he's pretty good but he only scored 6 league goals out of 33 apps (6 starts/968 mins) for Benfica/Portuguese League. He might be their starting player, make sense since Hernandez isn't in the best form apparently (still Hernandez can probably destroy our defence). But for some unknown reason, STY doesn't even select SHJ which is a player with similar stats: 6 goals out of 26 apps (13 starts/1193 mins). Why did he think by selecting inferior players, we will somehow manage to beat Mexico/Sweden?
Ki is setting himself as future scapegoat so he can retire, which is what he wanted to do all along. Perfect situation for Ki.
Should've called up KJM and BSH for experience. We will end up getting 0 pts with or without KSY who's already checked out and a washed up Koo.
I think giving Paik Seungho a spot might have been a good idea now considering he's probably not going to be included into Girona's first team. Might as well give him a spot get him some experience, and showcase himself in the biggest stage of the world. Then he might get some interests and get loaned to a first flight team.

Sounds like much ado about nothing. I'd be more worried if there weren't tension after such a poor performance.
Having watched many of the friendlies leading up to the WC this is quite easily the worse Korean team to embrace the tournament. The team is very lathargic and even what should be simple one touch football several players are taking a too many touches and playing the obvious pass. The high intensity football that we saw in previous world cups is not there. We don’t have the players to produce quality like the other nations but I do expect them to do the basics right and play with more graft. I’m afraid we will be the laughing stock of this years WC. I’m struggling to see how we can even win one game. We are all over the shop in terms of tactics and lack consistency. I really hope I’m proven wrong but I just can’t see how 10 more days will make a significant difference. Put simply we haven’t been playing well since we got to the final of the Asian cup.
