This weekend is dominated by World Cup qualifiers in Europe, but a few friendlies are happening: USA v China - Thursday 7pm local time / 1am GMT, Presented by Cutter Insect Repellent https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2018/06/05/19/20/20180605-feat-preview-wnt-usa-v-china-pr-presented-by-cutter-in-utahChile v Costa Rica - Saturday, June 9 http://radio.uchile.cl/2018/06/06/la-roja-femenina-enfrenta-este-sabado-a-costa-rica/New Zealand v Japan - Sunday, June 10, 3am GMT https://www.radionz.co.nz/news/sport/356529/football-ferns-to-play-in-wellingtonCanada v Germany - Sunday, June 10, 2pm ET / 8pm CET https://www.canadasoccer.com/-5-canada-to-play-2-germany-on-10-june-in-hamilton-p161401 Indonesia played Thailand twice last week, the game is on Youtube from May 30. here's the lone goal in USA vs China. Morgan's scores as apparently she's the only target player in Ellis vision even though she's having such an absymal NWSL season(with just 2 goals for the Pride). China switched to their 4th coach in 3 years,. This time it's a home grown one, He wants every one to know that he's still in the process of reading his fellow countryman's 'The Art of War & it's main principle; 'the best defense is a good offence'
Does anyone know if this game will be aired on TV in New Zealand? I know for sure that it won't be aired in Japan, so I wanted to know if there is any chance at all to get a live-streaming.
New Zealand-Japan - the game is on Sky Sport 4 NZ, whatever that is... 5am CET I think. Last time NZ played at home ('A' team v Thailand in 2016), some TV highlights went online later. Some pre-match stuff - a highly technical report, "Nadeshiko Japan Perform training with training". Yes. Also from NZ, a match preview here, interviews with goalie Erin Nayler and Sarah Gregorius, but they're without Ali Riley (injured) or Abby Erceg (retired again). It's crazy they haven't played in Wellington for 27 years - and generally NZ Football has had problems in finding opponents for home friendlies, women's or men's, for some reason.
I was looking for a full game replay too, but so far only highlights of #3 Germany vs #4 Canada good win for the Germans considering it was played in Canada, on the less familiar turf & the Germans only played with 3 starters from the US/SBC game, just one from their Olympic/gold medal performance. So basically they've showed just how deep they can go. Their only problem is that they got right now an excellent interim coach named Horst, who plays them at a much faster pace than the previous ones. But he didn't want the full time job, so now they hired for next year the current Swiss one, who probably going to return them back to the slowed down/short passing game. As for Canada, they had a recent coaching switch too since Herdman decided to take over the CA's men'd squad. They supposedly gotten a respectable one(the Danish one that took hs team into the Euro finals), but been off form recently, loosing to France, Sweden & now Germany. Their fans complained it was the 3 back that did them in. but they did have all their experienced players in their(as their usual tykes are playing currently playing for their youth squads. With the one goal she scored Sinclair is inching towards Wambach's record(anybody knows the stats on that?). Give the Canadians credit too for the 23K sell out, but got the feeling their will fall way down from their current #4 ranking
From the Canada vs Germany friendly: all the sound bytes of: The post game press conference with head coach Kenneth Heiner-Moller and Christine Sinclair then hallway interviews with Kadeisha Buchanan and Stephanie Labbe. http://www.rocketrobinsoccerintoronto.com/reports18/18cana02.htm
and here is almost full game, the commentary though is out of zinc with the game https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t0w1TZ4sAwq768R5HFiDhWFwHnjXJbhE/view
I hope you're coping OK, blissett! In the reports, New Zealand media are damning in their assessment of coach Andreas Heraf's negative tactics v Japan. Ex-captain Abby Erceg has broken her silence, and she says Heraf's "delusional" lack of ambition is why she's left international football for a second time. 10 members of the Football Ferns have written formal letters of complaint about head coach Andreas Heraf's conduct via @nzherald https://t.co/f3noYQF8I9— Steph Yang | Horrible Soccer Goose (@thrace) June 18, 2018
Well, "gagging orders" or not, I guess the actual content on the letter will soon have to surface. And rightfully so: when a so big part of a team express discontent (and this doesn't count players like Erceg who already opted out), it's clear that there is a very real problem. Other teams in the past (Spain comes to mind) stood up as a team against what they felt was bad management and subsequently the team flourished again under a different coach. Although I often picked on New Zealand in the past because of their cakewalk OFC qualifier tournaments, I wish them the same path of these other successful national teams.
the first charge made in the article~~~"we needed to ask permission to leave the dinner table" that's sounds like very, very serious stuff, lol 2nd charge~~~stop passing the ball to the back'. Shouldn't a coach be able to decide that? From reading an article on Dutch coach, Sabrina Wiegmann; she worked hard changing her team to fronting the ball as quick as possible, rather than back passing. Did it pay off?.........all the way to the Euro championship. 3rd charge; threatening to take a player off her club team; probably over the line, but made in the heat of the moment/(yet never carried through) but if the freedom loving Ferns aren't happy with their way more disciplined coached from Austria,to a point where Erceg quits, then it's not going to be productive on the playing field. btw............negative or positive, at least this last game generated a lot more interest; the biggest attendance for woso in their country's history, as well as over 100 posts on the article's message board.
first read the article, then read all of the 100 comments left by mainly New Zealanders(who well know better than you or me) there's a lot of pro's & cons in their arguments whether the coach is too rough on his players. But keep in mind, that 3/4 years ago next door neighbor(of you can call them that) Australia, had a similar situation where the players rebelled against their Dutch, authoritarian coach at the time.
Jeez Hotjam, let them do the investigation. Comments section on Stuff is terrible BTW. Anyone who gives it any value is an idiot.

I done a new thread just for this: Club friendlies 2018 https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/club-friendlies-2018.2084801/ #noobzealot In the (much more important) international friendlies there were a couple of big postponements! Kosovo v Macedonia got cancelled. Twice. Dunno what's going on there.
