Oh no knock on you. It was just lately everyone has said he's been crap and I'm reading yours and thinking "wow Omar is back to form... and then you list the reason he was good because the opposing strikers were god awful"
Well in any case, he did at least as good as he should have done. But we can’t ignore that Copa MX is where first division teams play almost entire alternate squads. Some do it even in the knockout phase. His real test is whether he can get back to playing league games.
Well, surprises in the Copa MX are not uncommon and Celaya is one of the best teams in Ascenso, so it wasn't all bad.

He had a decent game. Wasn’t at fault for the goal (TBh no one was, it was a beautiful counter play from santos). Not sure if he’s staying or not but for two guys that have much less talent than Murillo, Omar and Herrera ( and Peña) have done a good job in his absence.
Omar is a decent defender when in form and paired with the right partner. This was the case circa 2013 when Klinsmann played him alongside Besler. Otherwise, things get ugly quick.

Alonso had a good run and left on good terms. He himself said during the season that if he couldn’t figure out how to make the team play he’d step aside. I think this is 3 playoffs in a row we’ve missed. Was time for a change.

Putting Guadalajara on the map: Omar Gonzalez at Atlas or something along the mythology route... "Weight of a Red & Black sky on his shoulder: Omar Gonzalez at Atlas". Or you could go a bit more obscure with 'Doing Calypso in Mexico: Omar Gonzalez & Atlas'.
A little literary allusion, and probably captures the feelings of most US fans towards Omar now. BigSoccer Shrugged: Omar at Atlas
Seems kind of rough for the guy to get shade from his own YA thread title, but I guess soccer's a rough game.
