I don't see disaster here. Miazga despite of TT noise was very good. Just hard to play between Villafana who isn't this level player and CCV on a bad day. McKennie wasn't bad at all, neither was Rubin. Of course when you sub them for DLT and Corona who can't defend you will be in trouble. Parker was decent. Again despite of TT nonsense Weah was very good. He isn't strong enough yet and can be pushed off the ball, but he subs for PSG for a reason, and I hope there is no loan for him. Disinterested Yedlin is still much better than alternatives. Sargent is better than Wood already and I'm sure that his 2018-2019 season in BL will be more productive than Wood's 2017-2018. Hamid should be dropped immediately he lost his confidence and NT isn't a right place to try to get it back. Steffen did it right. Back to MLS and start from scratch. Adams is a faster Bradley. He is a useful role player. Generally speaking not a bad game at all. If you need a result McKennie and Rubin stay and you get result.
I don't see how Sean is all that much of an upgrade really. And upgrade, YES, and only because he is getting consistent minutes. But at exactly the right moment (sarcastically speaking), he will screw up. If the goalkeeper situation holds through the Gold Cup, Brad Guzan is NO. 1. Hopefully, beyond him, it'll be 1) Steffen 2) Bono (?) 3) Matt Parker (?)
While I liked Weah a lot better today, truth is I don't see a PSG-level player there. Still very young, true, but I think he's Wood level, about. Bobby is the anti-Chandler: he looks for the NT much better than he does for club. That alone endears him to me hugely: I always want him with our NT. Today central midfield was a cluster.... Not even McKennie looked solid. I still expect McKennie-Parks to be our CM pair for the cycle. I don't rate Adams, and today did nothing to change my opinion of him. I liked CCV a lot. I feel the CCV-Miazga pair with a better keeper behind would have got us the tie. And a tie in Dublin would have been awesome, we've always lost there, since 1924, and usually hard.
The kid is good. Now let him get some first team minutes at Bremen for a couple of seasons before we crown him as a No. 9 US messiah and compare him with Wood....
They have to play 2 times in qualification. Normally the US and Mexico are top 2 in the hex and the game is more about pride. But these last 2 cycles each match has been crucial for both teams. Then you now have the league of nations or whatever they are calling it. Mexico worries much more about a trip to Honduras (conditions) than a maybe matchup with Argentina.
Yeah Johnson has that I'm going to really do something awful feel. But he is at least confident in his awfulness, Hamid is hesitant and needs to be playing in his minutes. I'd maybe go Steffen Guzan Bono Melia Horvath Clearly a divide here Bingham Yarbrough Gonzales Johnson Hamid
You can't play a rusty guy as keeper. Keeper is the one position where playing the guy who actually plays every week matters most.
Remember Horvath against Portugal? I think you're 100 percent right here. No more callups for Hamid till he gets playing time again...
Interesting. I've liked Lletget's play recently. Delgado apparently injured - we'll see in an hour if he is on the roster for Toronto @ Columbus. Parks would have helped, Saief - but please, people, Green isn't international material.
I'm not trying to hype up Green at all, especially since this was the first season of first team soccer he has played (for a bad team) but I was more pointing out for another guy with pace that is more attacking minded
I could've sworn they play every single time to qualify..in fact they play more then once. I think you may be talking about a different Mexico maybe one not in concacaf.
If you don't rate Adams it really makes me think everything you say is wrong. Would be one thing to say you need to see more of him but to be done with a kid who has played well for his club at that age tells me you picked ur favs and are just trying to back into ur opinion by saying stuff like that.
Of course I could be 100% wrong and entirely biased. I'm just a dude, like any other dude, not a computer or some godling.
We are just biding our time til Almeyda gets the gig with USA. So I would not take this game too seriously as a harbinger of the future.
No way we get Almeyda. The rumor is he's got a juicy lob lined up in Europe already. It'd be awesome if we did. But no, come on, let's be realistic. We'll get Berhalter or Vermes.
They do and again, the US has never beaten Mexico in Mexico city. Mexico does not even have to beat the US to go to the world cup.
Mexico is more concerned about trying to at least make it to the 5th game in the world cup than beating the US or winning the meaningless gold cup.
This is one of the major problems with Sarachan. He cant see past the end of his nose. There are other goalies that could be looked at but its Hamid. Why? He's not even playing for his club. I don't like Wood but hard to fault him when you have no midfield creating anything.... What was the plan Dave? Who was going to create anything? Oops, nobody and guess what happened. Do we need to see Corona again....ever? Next we face France that just beat Ireland 2-0. France would get great satisfaction out of pounding us id they can. It will be interesting to see what Dangerous Dave does for this one. Best from the two matches? Game one guys less Pulisic? A third lineup thats different? He wont want to lost two in a row
so u think Mex doesn't care about qualifying lol. Ur thinking is backwards. They care about the WC...but not if they qualify lol.
