lol they totally worry about the us. they aren't on germany/argentina level and its not close. think about their big matches against teams like that...germany...were killed....chile...what was it like 15-1 or something.
Yep. England may be our soccer mom, with the huge influence English coaching had in the formation of our system, but the Irish are our uncles. After all, they basically gave us over half of our best players ever. They know us well, and they play the sort of style that makes our guys nervous. Even the way they beat us in divided balls is very avuncular, they have that air of authority over our players, always have.
sort of -way too excited about a win over a f team in bolivia -played a b team in ireland and looked terrible..shouldn't be real happy.
The next Zardes? Mind you, we are talking about a teenager with a descent first touch playing for a good team and about ten years younger than Zardes. Take a breather....
They're stronger than us in exactly our strong characteristics: physical, rowdy, good stamina, hard-nosed, fast, and with a mentality that getting the job done is better than looking pretty. Those Irish are like a tougher version of us.
No they don't. They qualify to the world cup every 4 years easily and the US has never beaten them in Mexico city. They worry about Argentina knocking them out of the world cup on the 4th game.
We have no world cup. So most people are treating these games with a meaning, that if they were played in January of a normal year would not be there. Too high on the win and too low on the loss. Disappointed in the midfield, Yedlin and Rubin. Pretty much everyone else was about what I thought they'd be.
Meh, this is just a day in the learning process of a very, very young team without an identity yet. Today inched us closer to something ready to play games that matter later in the cycle. I'm kinda surprised at some of you. Do any of you remember Klinsmann's early-cycle match in Ireland 4 years ago? That was a dog in so many respects compared to what transpired today, and what we got out of it as a group moving forward.
Ives just tweeted that we did try to call in Lleget but Galaxy said no. The end of the day I do think the exclusion of Parks, and Saief/Green not being available really hurt us
Only morons set up a team in 4-1-4-1, watch the first half, and then make zero changes. It was clear in the first 15-20 minutes that the formation was terrible and not working. We had obvious tactical problems that were not adjusted for, and the subs, particularly late, failed to make positive impacts on the game. That's why Sarachan's a bad coach.
He has a decent first touch.. and? At 18 I have seen players with more than just a decent touch. Look I am not hating on the guy but he is what he is and he will not be a special player based on what I have seen so far. I can say the opposite about Sargent.
easily? they almost didn't qualify four years ago and wouldn't have the only thing that kept them in were two garbage time goals by the us against panama on the last day of qualifying lol. they better worry about sweden knocking them out of the world cup in the group stage this year.
Yeah, I will agree with you that there are better 18 year-olds than Weah. That being said, (1) He's just 18. (2) He plays on a decent team. (3) He has, for better or worse, a lot of years ahead of him. (4) Comparing him to a 27 or 28 year old MLS-level Zardes right now is a bit much.
So? I am not saying his a bad player, I am just saying he is not going to be anything special. That is it. Sargent is also 18 and he does show that can be something special.
just an fyi us in the hex in 2018 17 goals 12 pts mex in the hex in 2014 7 goals and 11 pts once again...if mexico had done what the us did on the last day of qualifying four years ago..the us would be in.
Not really. The US just bailed them out, where Mexico did not. Pretty much exact same cycle just different results. If you truly believe that Mexico worries about a team they may play every 4 years, then good on you.
Why would Mexico have to worry about the US? Mexico does not have to play head to head with the US to qualify to the word cup. Maybe for the Gold cup because they can meet in the finals but that is it.
