Those bastards. Old and busted: "League soccer has never made money in this country and that sucks because leagues fold a lot." New hotness: "You make MONEY at this? You suck. I don't care how much money was lost the first 20 years, you're not pure. I am going to go watch college kids play seven home games a summer at the local high school. #authentic"
I think you misunderstood me making a point I'm all for them making money. I was saying of course they'd be in favor of things like having 36/38 games because it means for owner like the Kraft's more money more weeks Gillette gets used.
So why haven't they already been playing 36/38 (or more!) games? If it so obviously makes them money why haven't they been doing it all along?
And any thought towards extending the league season in either direction runs into attendance-destroying weather. Scheduling is a very big challenge in MLS.
Today will be a truly memorable day for the club and the city. I remember the initial press conference announcing the team, the open tryouts, and the first players. To think that was only 3 years ago is surreal
I know I am clipping out a bit of your post. But honestly, this is what we need. Support your local soccer, at whatever level it is. I don't care whether you support your local MLS team, USL team, Semi-Pro, or amateur team. The problem is the people who refuse to support local soccer and instead turn their noses up at it and support teams they have no ties to in other countries. To try to flip that down to people who support local soccer is really ********ed up imo.
we're a 9-5 city and they are expecting a big crowd on fountain square when work lets out. City has declared it orange and blue day
As far a team names go, I would go with their State Bird (Cardinals) or Lizard (Black Racer). Cincinnati Cardinals Cincinnati Racers I choose the latter.
Reading this thread few points came up 1. Will they be ready in 2019? Not fully ready until 2021 in terms of having all the infrastructure set up. I think we will struggle in 2019, but team has surprised me before with willingness to spend so that will be difference maker in early seasons. 2. The stadium is too small? Hard to say, we are drawing more than 21,000 for USL matches right now, but I think FCC wants certainty of revenue and having sell outs for years is better than fluctuations if they started too big. It can be expanded to 25,000 and 30,000 in time if demand persists. 3. I don't like the name! Okay, maybe you'd prefer Saints, Kings, or Silverbacks because "FC" is not to your liking. Of course those teams drew few hundred people and the Fussball Club gets over twenty thousand so maybe the team name isn't that big of a deal to us who attend matches.
What is wrong with Cincinnati Coluber Constrictors??? By the way what a beatuful snake (Both southern and northern) !!
you absolutely can not call them the Cincinnati Cardinals. never ever. be like calling them the Cincinnati Steelers
Not sure if you're trolling but those are names of rival teams. The Louisville Cardinals used to compete with the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. The Indianapolis Racers competed with the Cincinnati Stingers in the old WHA.
In case there was any doubt what the announcement is about, FC Cincinnati is joining MLS. I know, you are all as shocked as I. Who could have guessed?
