In light of all the roadblocks and obstacles this team has had to overcome, I was quite impressed with today's performance. Likewise, although I was never the kind of person to rant and rave over the likes of LSW and MSM, I must admit that they exceeded my expectations. If given the opportunity, under the "right conditions", they are capable of putting the ball in the back of the net against any of our group opponents. I hope they can continue to gain more posture over the next couple weeks and develop into reliable components of our offense. While we still have a few glaring issues that need to be addressed, I feel confident that they can be remedied, or at the very least, significantly improved over the next few friendly matches before the World Cup. Regardless of their recent disappointments, I saw enough today to remain hopeful that they can still become a highly-tuned unit going into the tourney, and quite possibly, make us proud of our fandom for Korea!
this is game 1 of the prep....wait for the 2nd. KNT has that habit of giving false hopes...or is it just us????
I think the MSM bashing is too harsh. He didn't play well, but I liked his ball control when he scored. I think he was just hyper nervous. Let's give him one more chance against Bosnia to see what he can do. If it's not good enough, no problem -> we drop him. And tbh who besides the Europe basdd players are "WC level"? If the likes of JWY or JSH can play, I don't see any reason why MSM shouldn't.
Hwang Hee-chan: “I played really poorly today. I asked the manager not to take me off in the 2nd half, but I was below standard in every aspect. I have to be more accurate when making the last play.”— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) May 28, 2018 Mon Seon-min: “Despite the goal, I made a lot of careless mistakes after coming on today. I’d give myself a rating of 5 out of 10. I think I was overly motivated to prove myself.”— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) May 28, 2018
PSH should get his shot if he plays for 2nd tier division or so. No way we can let anyone playing for third tier play for KNT.
Wow, I came back to this thread to say that I was disappointed with HHC's performance. Glad to see #10 and HHC show introspection and understanding that they could've performed better. That's a positive sign. HHC's decision making was terrible this game. I don't think he attempted a single shot and his final pass to SHM or LSW was lacking. I hope he performs better on Friday. We need him to step up and be involved in meaningful possession in our final third. BSK was crucifying CanadianGook for dissing on MSM but glad to see MSM himself think he could've done better. Besides the goal, he added nothing to the game.
Sorry, crucifixion is an exaggeration but point is MSM didn't play well and I'm glad he understands, which means he can only play better from here.
Ki Sung-yueng: “We aren’t going to let this win fool us. I’m going to tell the players, and so will the manager. I also think it’s disappointing that the teams we’re facing now aren’t close to the level of our World Cup opponents.”— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) May 28, 2018 Yes! Glad to see this very grounded attitude from Captain Ki. So which teams we're facing are up to WC standards? Bosnia placed third in their qualifying group, Bolivia placed 2nd to last, and Senegal is in the WC. We should be winning every match from here on out to even stand a chance in our group.
nah I meant when did Canadiang**k talked about MSM? He's a rather unknown player and I haven't seen Canadiang**k post in a long time. All we know of MSM is that he played in Sweden and most people didn't really a lot of option of him at that time.
Former Östersunds FK teammate, Jamie Hopcutt, is happy for Moon Seon-min. They were teammates for 3 seasons at Östersunds (2nd & 3rd Swedish division) before Moon Seon-min moved to Djurgårdens IF (Swedish 1st division). My brother 😍🙌🏼 Cant wait to watch you at the world cup !!! Deserves it so much . #Unbelievableplayer https://t.co/AqFqZrG8T5— Jamie Hopcutt (@hoppy07) May 28, 2018
Hypocrisy at its finest: openly calls Stielike a stubborn man through the media when in reality he is just the same(or worse) than senile German counterpart. Stielike was a blend of Cho Kwang-rae, Choi Kang-hee, and Hong Myung-bo: Cho Kwang-rae's stubbornness. Choi Kang-hee's zero tactics/strategy. Hong Myung-bo's repetitive selection of bad players. Shin Tae-yong is basically the poor man's Stielike, but only a much more defective version: Stielike's stubbornness and poor media skills. Cho Kwang-rae's obsessive experimenting+fascination with the 3 back system. Choi Kang-hee's zero tactics/strategy+fascination over Kim Shin-wook. Hong Myung-bo's 인맥축구+repetitive selection of bad players. Kim Ho-gon's pompous attitude and lack of self awareness+conscience. - Fails overall as a manager, but thinks he's the best out of Asia ✓ - Fails to produce a decent performance, but thinks he can prove his worth at the WC let alone make it to the Round of 16 ✓ - Miserably fails tactically and the overall utilization of players even after personally asking Pochettino on how to use Son ✓ - Has a bizarre fetish over shit players/Continues to keep shit players whilst ignoring worthy players ✓ -100% Tool ✓ - 김호곤 "내년 3월쯤 좋은 경기력 나올 것" X
Honduras manager Carlos Tabora on Lee Seung-woo: “His skills are already as good as any experienced player he played with today. He’s a player who deserves the attention he’s getting.”— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) May 28, 2018 Mr popular. There was a lot of Honduras players asking #Son Heung-Min for a photo yesterday😂 pic.twitter.com/tMdChEeRz6— Nicole Chung 정니콜 (@0Nicole0_) May 29, 2018
Tbf I can't blame HMB for picking the same players when he didn't have a lot of time and he was thrown under a deep end. He had to go with what he has known so he picked the same team that did well in the olympics and u20. I did question his tactical ability though but he was pretty inexperienced and I had hope he could improve. I didn't mind if he was the manager after 2014 but he was thrown under the bus.
I mean the fact that he didn't call up Son for the Olympics speaks volumes. I'm glad that ship has sailed.
I hope against Bosnia we start KSY, LJS, KJC, and PJH. This another thing about STY, why is he starting a k-leaguer over KJC. Asian based mfs he picked can't even start 10 games in Bundesliga (minus LJS). But he has the audacity to bench him and not play him -_- Also LSW should start every game so he can improve as a player and sync with the team. LSW didn't get sufficient playing time which would have helped him improve. The next three games should be helpful.
