Chelsea are now big favourite for the title. City and Arsenal are still in it. Reading, Liverpool and Arsenal will hope for a City collapse to grab the second champions league place. Remaining top 5 teams games Sat 12 May Arsenal v Man City, Reading v Liverpool, Chelsea v Sunderland Tue 15 May Bristol v Chelsea Wed 16 May Man City v Yeovil , Sunderland v Arsenal Sun 20 May ( final matchday) Birmingham v Reading, Bristol v Arsenal, Liverpool v Chelsea, Man City v Everton, Sunderland v Yeovil Chelsea could win the title by Tuesday, should City lose at Arsenal, they would need four points from Bristol and Sunderland.
Chelsea captain, Katie Chapman will be retiring after the end of this season(she's 35) https://kevinwomensoccer.wordpress....nd-katie-chapman-to-retire-after-this-season/ nothing like going out a winner(FA Cup & WSL title at hand). Too me, she came across as a very physical player, some might even say 'dirty', but that's where at times, seems like where woso is headed
Bristol 0 Chelsea 2 Chelsea are FA WSL 2017/18 Champions. they do the league and cup double as well Previous champions 2011 & 2012 Arsenal 2013 & 2014 Liverpool 2015 Chelsea 2016 Manchester City 2017 Spring Series ( 8 games) Chelsea 2017/18 Chelsea Table 1 Chelsea pts 41 points + 30 (c) 2 Manchester City 32 pts +26 ===================== 3 Reading 31 pts +22 4 Arsenal 31 pts +13 5 Birmingham 29 pts +12 6 Liverpool 28 pts +4 7 Bristol 16 pts -27 8 Everton 14 pts -9 9 Sunderland 13 pts -24 10 Yeovil 2 pts -46 Remaining games Wed 16 May Man City v Yeovil , Sunderland v Arsenal Sun 20 May ( final matchday) Birmingham v Reading, Bristol v Arsenal, Liverpool v Chelsea, Man City v Everton, Sunderland v Yeovil
Promotion relegation at the end of the 2017/18 season FA WSL Sunderland who have not applied for the FA WSL or the Championship could go back to regional leagues ( tier 3&4) or simply fold FA WSL 2 Doncaster Belles Champions ( no promotion) Brighton and Hove promoted Oxford and Watford who had not applied for the FA WSL or the Championship could be relegated to regional leagues ( tier 3&4) if they are not succesful in their bid. FA WPL Play-off Champion ( Charlton v Blackburn ) promoted pending financial criteria 12 teams from the FA WPL have also put a bid including West Ham who should be promoted to the FA WSL ( they have a manager, budget and already signing up players from England and abroad) Teams without a senior adult teams have also applied for the Championship : Southampton and Manchester United.
Looks like the deficit was £65,000. They managed to raise enough to finish the season with the crowdfunding, but they will need to find a big sponsor to carry on next season, otherwise the FA will have no problems finding a replacement team. There are 14 teams vying for 5 places in the Championship next season.
From what you've said, it sounds like next year's WSL is losing Sunderland but gaining BHA ...and West Ham? That sounds like it would put them at 11 teams, which is (literally) an odd number. The goal is ultimately 14, right? The Championship is losing BHA, maybe Milwall, maybe Oxford, and maybe Watford, while gaining maybe the WPL champion; if all those are realized, that would put them at seven teams. Add six to that from the new applications (five planned plus the Milwall replacement) and you get 13, which is also odd... and IIRC the goal for the Championship is 10 though. So that's 11+13 teams when the goal is 14+10. Can you remind us what the pro/rel schedule might look like going forward? (And correct anything I might have confused here.) ==edit== Did a quick Google search as well, just to make sure I didn't ask anything stupid. X-D Looks like this article from last month came to a similar understanding that I did, save not knowing about Milwall's troubles.
was Katie the Billy Bremner of woso?(or what). Maybe she'll stick around when Chelsea tales on our most physical(& some say, dirtiest) team, the NC Courage, in July
If there are like 2 dirty teams by leagues it does not mean woso is overall moving towards physical play...
guess we like to feel we got influence on this side of the Atlantic; in the NWSL finals the all ready dirty rep. Courage, got beat by the even dirtier playing Thorns. Got to use the word 'dirty' cause both sides 'cried wolf' after some serious injuries happened in that game within minutes. former Canada coach Herdman brought his slightly above average squad all the way to 3rd best in the world(Olympics) using what lot would say 'roughhouse' tactics. even some of your French fans called the Germans "dirty" after they beat you at last the WC
Oh! All these years posting and I didn't actually know your day job... Very cool! =-D Nice to know we have an actual journalist on the boards. No wonder you often have fun insights! (And now that I'm looking closer... Any reason why you picked s-h-l-j instead of s-y-l-j here? Middle names?)
yes middle name hl, I also write for the French website https://www.footofeminin.fr/ Journalist is a hobby by the way, I work in logistics.

shlj, is there a reason why this thread is in the hooliganism forum? I keep forgetting to check it! Thanks for posting all the information.
There is none, all the FA WSL thread should be moved to the international forum, but for some reasons I have always enjoyed posting in that section...
Just historical reasons (meaning "the history of this forum"). The same reasons why Nadeshiko Japan thread is under "Japan" and not under "women's soccer". Edit: the German thread had been here for long also, before other people took over and brought it to the "women's soccer" section.
this was an good game as Chelsea won it in style. coming back from two goals down to finish the season unbeaten/ But not everything's perfect in paradise! Rumors persist, while Ji has signed a new contract; Chapman(ret) Aluko, Spencer, Rafferty & even Kirby(though just rumored) are leaving. Not sure where those last four are moving too(though they say Barca is interested in the Kirbster) If anybody knows more about these alleged transfers?, be sure to post In other news, former ENG international, Casey Stoney has been named general manager of the the new Man United team.
I ask because I'd like to make a thread for the other leagues in the UK and Ireland (English tier 2, SWPL etc). Would that be OK with you, shlj? I'd put it in this subforum at first, while I work out how all the buttons work. It would mostly be results/news, I guess.
UK & Ireland, it's more international Plus, they need the support. Thanks a lot for doing that, shlj...
I've been a bit busy to follow MCFC this season. Sorry to see Tessel Middag move on. Is this a retirement? Or is she headed elsewhere?
