Was in goal today for his 29th league start of the season, a 4-0 road win against Dynamo Dresden.

Holstein Kiel are in third (the promotion playoff spot). They have a 5 point lead over fourth place Jahn Regensburg and are 1 point behind second place Nuremberg who have played 1 fewer game.

Kronholm was named the 2. Bundesliga player of the day by one publication for his performance at Dynamo Dresden.

Second-place Nuremberg drew Ingolstadt and thus are just 2 points ahead of Holstein Kiel, 51 to 49. Huge match on Monday when they play each other -- if Holstein Kiel win, they move into the automatic promotion spot.

Can such a club survive in the Bundesliga or will they just be whipping boys?

lost 3-1 to FCN and Kiel are now 5 pts behind direct promotion with 3 games to go. They even risk being overtaken for the playoff spot by Jahn Regensburg who are only 2 pts behind.

their remaining games are vs Ingolstadt, 1st place FD, and Braunschweig.

Kronholm's loss is Jann George's gain

Does his club stand a chance at not being a 1 season wonder in the Bundesliga? Can they survive or just happy enough to be battling for promotion?

with a 1-1 draw and a few other clubs losing. Kiel are in the promotion playoff spot.

likely to be vs either Hamburg, Wolfsburg or Freiburg.

Don't expect much, though. Since this format was introduced, the BL1 team has won six out of seven playoff ties.

That's not a knock on Kiel. They're a small club that's done marvelously well to get to the playoff, but history is against them

Yikes, Kenneth should have done a lot better at that 2nd Wolfsburg goal.

Kronholm has make a save on a shot that was hit powerfully but in his general area.

    2-1 Wolfsburg.

I'm not discounting his success and I also admit that I haven't watched him that much.

But from the little I've seen, I have to say I am not terribly impressed. I've seen a bunch of preventable goals.

FWIW Kicker has him as the 7th best rated keeper in 2.liga, but Holstein also has the 2nd, 8th, 14th, and 15th best rated defenders in the league, more than any other team in the top 15.

Working from home today, I thought man I'll tune into this match and catch bits and pieces of it while doing work. I was more intrigued to see Kronholm than Brooks. I was left disappointed by both. I don't know what I expected from Kronholm but my first impression was not good. He looked nervy. He looked quite frankly, star struck. His distribution was poor and those goals - maybe not 100% preventable - but he didn't cover himself in glory. On that second goal , in particular, it was powerfully hit and he may not have stopped it but his form was terrible. He dove somewhat backwards and he couldn't get his top hand over. Both big No No's as a GK. Hopefully, this was just the jitters and he'll be much stronger at home. It will be HUGE uphill battle, though.

Kiel lost 4-1 on aggregate, so they're stuck in the 2. Bundesliga for at least another season.

How was his ranking this season? Among the top keepers?
