I am 27 and have bad cholesterol all ready and my brothers and dad have it as well. My wife makes me eat nasty fish tablets to fix it.

The doctor is like you eat a lot of rice and pasta? I am like I am Colombian and Italian duh

That shit is tough, I've stopped eating rice, usually in my two meals there's mainly green beans, spinach and other green shit. Ocasionally I eat pasta but not as much as before, I still eat a lot of cheese though.

In the beginning that was my reaction, but since I started the fasting now even spinach tastes great, you get used to its taste and It really is an awesome food, It keeps you full and It barely has carbs.

But in all honesty, I just can't say that any green Vegetable tastes great, they are basically eating grass. You must pour some vinegar in it to get something out of It.

I hate veggies. My wife makes me drink it as a smoothie. Honestly all I taste is carrots. I just can’t look at it because it looks like a blended turtle. It’s either super dark green or a brown

I like Kale chips and spinach. Hate lettuce

I like veggies and salads but they really can’t compete with Colombian food. To add insult to injury we found a great Colombian restaurant around the corner and they sell weekly cantinas (we split one with my wife and always order the veggies).

My main tactic to control weight has been portion control, but that just keep my weight. I’m starting to get used to two meals and I find breakfast easier to skip, but have not yet fully implemented it, but I’ve lost a couple of pounds so there’s promise. Hopefully I’ll be able to follow through in summer.

Casa Colombia... is that the one colombian place in Austin? I remember when I went to Austin a few years ago I went over there in hopes of finding colombian food and the place was closed, I thought it was shut down for good.

the place is a small white house thats kinda beat up, also I remember the area being rather poor

thats my all time favorite colombian food. Tho now that I am getting older my stomach can't handle it.

Any one have a panocha? haha guess its from my moms town it looks like a calzone but has some sugar in it. one of my friends was going to go to Cartagena for a bachelor party. I told him to get some and he said thats slang for Vag haha.

Also been in NYC for the next 2 days. Discovered the Arepa Lady its a decent chain in the area but man paying $6 for a cheese arepa is fking insane

You can't handle chicharrón? How old are you? 70?!?!?... I was in an asado this past independence day.. I prepared some chicharrón with BBQ, others with Sriracha , and the third round with Ottoman spices... Those mother********ing chicharrones taste amazing in an asado!

I Will eat panocha this week!!!.. my brother went to cartagena this weekend and brought some! They are delicious.. with a good coffee or hot chocolate.

Agree with the Insanity of a 6 bucks arepa con queso... At that price is worth it to do it yourself.. it is not Even difficult or lenghty.

standard price for colombian food in the US.

I miss for example the massive empanadas that they sell in random little shops in Bogota. Here you only see the tiny ones.

Working at a hedge fund for 5 years killed my stomach because of the stress. Also it’s super fking greasy. I can eat it but will have to run to the bathroom.

Yea I know how to make arepas, bunelous and empanadas. Also know how to make deditos (chesse sticks). Make them at parties and soccer viewing.

I have an outdoor deep fryer next to my grill and use that as it makes my house smell bad to cook that inside.

For 6 bucks I can make 12 arepa de Huevo :) or 40 arepas de dulce or regular ones

My parents always stop in queens for Colombian bread when they go visit my sister. Come back with a car full of bread and it’s like $100. Insane

In Hartford, ct we have a decent Colombian spot tho the cost is like 1.75 each. Would complain but a canolli at an Italian bakery is close to $3

It is but not if you live in the nice part. My wife and I looked at a place near the governors house and a real nice park. We decided to go to the suburbs for more land. CT homes are 200-300k for middle class family in a decent area. My sister and her husband were looking in Brooklyn and it’s 850k for a studio haha

So it depends but Hartford is a ghost town after work hours. Must be a lot of Colombians in the area as I know 4-5 Colombian spots. The pan de bono spot is super super super ghetto. When I take work people I always have to prepare them. Like this is the actual ghetto. You aren’t racist for being worried here

Brooklyn is super expensive for no reason imo . Pay 2500 rent for a 2 bedroom in a shitty neighborhood ? No thanks. Queens is more surburban than the other boroughs.. call me bias but queens is the best to live. Not to talk to much crap on bk it does have its charm ...the nightlife art district and restaurant's.

You must be talking rural CT areas....nowhere close for price ranges from Fairfield toward NYC, basically anything close to a train line within 60 minutes of NYC starts at $500k for a STARTER home....not including $15k+ in taxes for 1/4 acre lots.

Also, where in Hartford is the best Colombian bakery? My company is based out of Manchester, so I wouldnt mind stopping by if it's worth it. Like the pandebonos on the saltier side...some places use the cheap cheese and flour and end up putting too much sugar...way sweet.

Only place with pan de bono is

    Anotojitos Colombianos
    704 Park St
    Hartford, CT 06106
    United States

It’s in a shopping plaza in a real shit part of town. Don’t eat the empanadas in any place in CT they fill it with potatoes and has like no meat in it

Not sure about the Colombian restaurants but I know franklin ave in Hartford has at least 3 Colombian sit down places. La Fonda is where my dad and I watched Colombia win the Copa America when I was 10. Then the police came because the Colombians in the area went ape shit!
