Mike Krzyszewski, basketball coach at Duke University and sometimes of the US National Team. Widely recognized as one of the best in NCAA history. However, outside of his name he has very little to do with Poland. I met him at one of the Polish-American functions where he was invited as a special guest of honor, and he seemed surprised at being there.

    with apologies for quoting myself...

today's Champions League game show why Lewandowski has not reached the 'best of the best' status of world soccer... he was pretty much invisible in his game against Sevilla (the possible weakest team remaining in the CL) while Ronaldo scores two and adds an assist against the current and fututre champion of Seria A, Juventus

True, but the entire Bayern team played poorly. I saw both matches in a bar, and was amazed how much better the RM-Juve game was.

Jan Bednarek just scored for Southampton in the English Premier League!

Who was the last Pole to score in the top division in England?

I will venture a guess and take the
"top division" instead of Premiership as a clue and say Deyna.

    Sorry, that wasn’t a clue

Here is a hint, it was another defensive player

Lewandowski did not do himself any favors in this semi against RM
if he wants on the same level as Messi and Ronaldo he's got to score and put his team through to the final

Honestly, I am hoping that he is seething inside and will unleash the monster during the World Cup. A great performance there may be worth more than one in the CL.

I actually thought he played well in the second leg. They pay him to score, of course, but his pace, positioning and hold up play were pretty good. If we have Milik (or Kownacki) alongside of him at the Cup, and Lewandowski is shut out, but does what he did in the second leg of the CL semi I think we are in good shape.

yes, that is the hoped for outcome... but that's what we looked for during the Euros and we scored very few goals with Lewa and Milik only getting one each

Yet Zielinski was not existent during the Euros, he is a different player now. If we can get him to perform in the middle we have attacking threats from the middle and through the wings.
