@Orange14 ... singing from the same hymn sheet regarding the need for intervention. I've heard nice words from FIFA (Infantino in a recent interview), UEFA and even the EU but I'd like to see more action. For me, this is about what's best for football. Although with Infantino I'd expect some populist statements but if he could start a super league, FIFA's holy grail, their own CL with a constant revenue stream on top of what they generate every 4 years with the WC, Infantino would have no problems with any demands the superclubs could possibly make. On the individual level, however, I'm not convinced that talents are making poor career choices by joining the world's best academies. You ask: "Do any of you think that those players on loan will ever play in a Chelsea first team?" Courtois, Lukaku and De Bruyne have spent time in Chelsea's army of loanees (two of them are at other big clubs but their careers are very healthy). There's nothing wrong with not making it into Chelsea's first team, e.g. De Bruyne is quite happy at City. This season Christensen came back from loan and won his place in the starting line-up. Terry was the last of their academy players but it isn't like their academy was overcrowded with top quality players (Bertrand made somewhat of a name for himself, granted that doesn't reflect well on their academy's "talent" detection, De Visser did OK though). Does Van Ginkel have the level to play at Chelsea and challenge for the PL crown? Can he have a respectable career elsewhere? I doubt that with Chelsea on his resumé his career prospects have been diminished.
The discussion is whether it's an open contest or purely one for the low lands. Is Zelalem your pick?
That's far too early, as he's just 18 years old. You've to be at least 23 to be mentioned in the Freddy Adu Award thread. And despite my critics on EPB's move I'm not negative on his prospects. But he has to make the right choices. He's talented, but still maturing. But he's not in the class of de Ligt, Per Schuurs, Kik Pierie or Obispo. So that defines his future as a CFG contract player. He will never be part of ManCity, as he's not in the same class as these other Dutch talents.
Just remembered Zelalem for all the hype around the kid years ago. For my pick, I'd go with one of our own, Januzaj.
Yeah, I expected alot from him, but he went too early to the epl black hole. But looking at Benteke today I might go with him from Belgium..
It won't be deleted and I've been around football for a very long time to recognize talent when it is really there. You don't seem to realize that ManCity go out and buy established players for their game day roster. Palmer-Brown won't fit the bill.
Funny you mention him. He went to the same high school that my daughters did and I saw him play several times. He was clearly a talent at that level. He should have done what Pulisic did and gone to Dortmund or even one of the Dutch youth programs. he would have developed faster.
Didn't he go on loan to Venlo? Julian Green also deserves a mention, IIRC the USMNT's golden boy back in 2014 (TBH couldn't remember his name and had to give him a good google). About the Chelsea loanees: Moses also was one of them (even among the better ones) and he's simply not good enough to play for a top 6 team in the PL. Even Christensen is still error-prone (despite having proven himself in the BuLi). In case Ake proves himself I believe Chelsea included a buy-back clause. Arguably Chelsea's best loanee ATM is Batshuayi and he probably would be better off looking for a more permanent move. So will we get a list of Dutch loanees/talents at academies abroad (shouldn't be limited to PL parent clubs IMHO)? You'd expect cream to rise to the top. Even if they didn't manage to break into the first team at their parent club shouldn't at least some of them have come good elsewhere?
Yes, last season. I think Zelalem suffered a cruciate ligament tear last fall and has not played since.
Keep your eyes out for Naci Unuvar of Ajax. He's just 14 but played on the U17 Ajax side that won the Future's Cup over Juventus today. He scored both goals against Juve, netted two against Paris Saint-Germain and one against Anderlecht. He's a creative MF and rated the best prospect in the youth system!!
I was looking at a Dutch football show and in it was Jvh Schip, his coach. He told that Sandler will join Pep after the season and that Pep specifically wants him there under his wings to see close up how he matures in that setting over there. So if true it will prove me wrong, but I'll wait until then to see what really happens. By the way, his replacement the last couple of matches is a sixteen year old copperhead and is that guy a revelation. You willnot believe his cockyness in pushing forwards. He has the confidence of a much older player. Can you believe the number of defenders popping up as asparagus at harvest time

Ajax’s U17’s have lifted the prestigious Future Cup trophy after a 2-0 victory over Juventus in the final on Monday afternoon. Naci Ünüvar Club: Ajax Age: 14 Position: Midfielder Youngest player to ever compete in the Future Cup Top scorer in the Future Cup with five goals including two in the final. An exceptional talent for Ajax and the Netherlands. Looking forward to hearing more about this young fella in many years to come!!
Apparently, Unuvar has already made up his mind choosing Holland over Turkey(interview from goal.com).
His parents have also said he is very comfortable at Ajax. Let's hope that they sign him the day he turns 16.
The future certainly looks bright. I know they'll be a little futher behind but Unuvar and Simons right now looks destined for stardom.

Wow, Unuvar looks great for someone that young. I don't think Ajax have had a two footed player like this since Wesley Snjeider!!!
It pretty much doesn't matter what the age group, the Dutch NT always gets a very tough draw. It's been that way for the senior NT for a lot of tournaments now.
