'03 age group. Here was the first call up of the cycle last month: https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...48-player-roster-for-final-2017-training-camp Here's the roster for January's camp: U-16 Boys’ National Team: GOALKEEPERS (2): Gavin Krenecki (Sacramento Republic FC; Fair Oaks, Calif.), Jacob Morris (Real Colorado; Parker, Colo.) DEFENDERS (8): Adrian Aguilar (LA Galaxy; Los Angeles, Calif.), Mauricio Cuevas (LA Galaxy; Los Angeles, Calif.), Jacob Greene (D.C. United; Crofton, Md.), Isaac Homer (Portland Timbers; Portland, Ore.), Ulysses Martinez (Portland Timbers; Mt. Angel, Ore.), Morris Matthews (New England Revolution; Cambridge, Mass.), Nico McMillan (Seattle Sounders FC; Seattle, Wash.), Casey Walls (San Jose Earthquakes; Mill Valley, Calif.) MIDFIELDERS (8): Javier Casas (Chicago Fire; Addison, Ill.), Elton Chifamba (Crew SC Academy; Blacklick, Ohio), Caden Clark (Barca Academy; Medina, Minn.), Daniel Leyva (Seattle Sounders FC; Seattle, Wash.), Diego Luna (San Jose Earthquakes; Sunnyvale, Calif.), Jack McGlynn (BW Gottschee Academy; Middle Village, N.Y.), Alex Monis (FC United; Naperville, Ill.), Nicholas Pariano (Philadelphia Union; Ann Arbor, Mich.) FORWARDS (6): Andres Cardinas (Weston FC; Doral, Fla.), Tyler Freeman (Sporting Kansas City; Shawnee, Kan.), Selmir Miscic (Philadelphia Union; Royersford, Pa.), Ricardo Pepi (FC Dallas; McKinney, Texas), Dante Sealy (FC Dallas; Frisco, Texas), Dantouma Toure (Players Development Academy; Trenton, N.J.)
Notes: Mauricio Cuevas is listed as a forward by the USSDA website, he's listed as a forward here. Is US Soccer or the USSDA website wrong? Casey Walls is listed by the USSDA website as having UK nationality. Is he eligible for the USA yet? Elton Chifamba is listed by the USSDA website as having Zimbabwe nationality. Is he eligible for the USA yet? Dante Sealy was at the Nike Friendlies with the U-17 YNT. I didn't think he played particularly well, so its not surprising that he's been moved down a level, but he should be one of the better players on this team. Dantouma Toure is the only player from the U-16, U-17, U-18 or U-19 camps that is playing up an age group. He is an '04.
New camp. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ds-to-carson-for-second-training-camp-of-2018 A couple of foreign-based players I hadn't heard of before: DF Dylan Kelemen (Club Deportivo Universidad Católica; Las Condes, Chile) MF Chitua Hani-Okoroafor (Sheffield Wednesday Football Club; Leeds, England) FW Vaughn Covil (Southhampton FC; Wiltshire, England) There's a player from the RGV - that's a rarity. Also another Alabaman in an MLS academy - this time Atlanta instead of Dallas like Servania and Richards.
Reyes, the Atlanta keeper, has represented Chile U15s. Good luck! @AcademyATLUTD’s Vicente Reyes has been named to the Chile U-15 National Team roster for Copa UC 🇨🇱 ⚽️ #UniteAndConquer pic.twitter.com/RQIJoaM4np— ATLUTD Academy (@AcademyATLUTD) December 8, 2017
Of the three abroad-based players, Keleman is from San Francisco and played with NorCal Premier Soccer. As for the other two, it's likely their football has been exclusively developed in England.
This roster almost seems like they decided to only pick players from a few MLS teams, and didn't call in players from the other MLS academies.
Worth noting that there's yet another player from El Paso amongst the FCD callups to this camp. The midfielder Edwin Villarreal. Ricardo Pepi, who played for us at this level (as well as Mexico) is also from FCD El Paso.
The U.S. U16 BNT had two scrimmages on Tuesday as part of an 8-day camp in LA. U16s beat LA Galaxy Academy 1-0 on this goal from @alex_monis. U16 BNT lost to Club Tijuana 1-2. Dantouma Toure scored the US goal. #usbnt #usynt #usmnt pic.twitter.com/MsrO177UUF— J.R. Eskilson (@JREskilson) March 13, 2018

GK Isaac Acevedo, mentioned in the video recap, stands at 6-foot-3 (!) as an '03 and despite being a freshman he captains the Porter High School soccer team in Brownsville, TX. Here's a photo of him, #1, with his teammates. http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/isaac-acevedo/hgtd2I8cEeeT-Oz0u-e-FA/default.htm

Looks like it's actually the U-16s going to the torneo delle nazioni and not the U-15s Roster: U-16 boys to face Italy, Libya and Croatia https://t.co/rNKGMu540Q @MikeWoitalla pic.twitter.com/tgzSG7mCQf— SoccerAmerica (@socceramerica) April 16, 2018 Roster: GOALKEEPERS (3): Gavin Krenecki (Sacramento Republic academy; Fair Oaks, Calif.); Eliot Jones (New England Revolution academy; New Britain, Conn.). First match is Italy on April 24. Nice to see Toure on the roster
Wonder why Nyeman isn't there. He's obviously not at the U17 camp either. Hopefully there's a stream. Excited to see Casas, I remember he trained with the first team in preseason but there's no film of it.
He's not eligible yet. This was talked about a few weeks ago in one of these threads. I've seen a few games of Casas, I thought he was decent, but not a standout. Based on what I've seen (I haven't seen all of the top players in this age group, but some of them), I'm not sure there should be any promotions from the U-16's to the U-17's. None of these players even look good enough to play up a year, IMO. It looks like a very weak year. The one caveat, I think Nyeman walks into the U-17 NT, and is probably the best player immediately. But until he's eligible, '03 looks like a really bad year, IMO. I could be wrong. I'm going off of mostly just club play, but Eskilson did say something similar pretty recently though.
Can anyone explain the Toure situation in terms of the discrepancy between his grade(listed as a sophomore based on graduation year), and birth year(June 04–which should make him an 8th grader). Obviously could have skipped some years in school, or is it possible he’s actually an 02 or 03(I know he’s officially an 04, wondering more in terms of if it’s possible that’s inaccurate)?
He came from Guinea, and they aren't as good with keeping birth records as the USA, so its probably more likely than someone born in the USA that he might be older than listed, but I think its unlikely he's not an '04. In other countries (especially other continents), you often find big discrepancies in schooling, so that might explain what you stated. Its been discussed here before, and I don't think you are wrong to speculate that, but I wouldn't further question that he's an '04 until we are told otherwise.
Only three players on this roster not from MLS academies - two from Sac Republic and one from BW Gottschee. Doesn't seem like the net is being cast that wide.
They probably are, to some degree, but one wonders what a reasonable expectation for how much they can actually expect to attract really is. The country is big, and there are only so many MLS academy slots. Throw in playing time issues, expense, travel, and about a million other things, including just the size of this country, and it seems hard to believe they can really own that much of it. How that translates to YNT callups is another matter.
Its probably a mixture of: A) MLS academies are hoovering up the best talent from non-MLS academies. We don't think that FCD scouts are watching non-MLS DA Academies in Texas like Solar, Dallas Texans, Houston Texans, etc. with an eagle eye? Cannon, Pomykal, Chris Richards, Christian Cappis, and a host of others all moved to FCD from those clubs. Brandon Servania came from Alabama. Thomas Roberts came from Arkansas. The list goes on ad naseum. And long may that particular trend continue. B) Players from DA academies are the most well scouted in the country. It goes without saying that if you're a good player from Waco or Amarillo, Texas....................it's going to be hard for a scout to identify you. If you're a player on FCD or the Dynamo of the exact same ability level, you're going to have been seen a lot by scouts. And that's not just pro scouts, but NCAA scouts. Its just reality. Just so we're all on the same page, the FCD kid on this roster is from El Paso. Two of the FCD kids on the Dallas Cup "All Star Team" also came from El Paso. If Edwin Villarreal had stayed in El Paso do we think he'd have been getting national team callups? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm C) These are all very small rosters. It doesn't surprise me that in such a small group, most of the players are at MLS academies. The best of the best of the best should be really ambitious and training at the best academies they can get access to. If you're not at an MLS academy, what happens to you? Ask Blaine Ferri................if you can find him.
