i think you are wrong.... sky germany started broadcasting in hd in 2008 when they had premiere league rights. though, the commentary might be german.
Sky Deutschland ? And were they showing many games in HD or just one in a while ? Maybe I am wrong, indeed. But I never see them in any collector's list. So I would not know where to find them. But if someone here has these games, please send me a pm ! Whenever I look at what collectors have, HD games (re-broadcasts excepted) start: - around 2007 for Sky UK or itv - around 2008 for Russian NTV+ (and maybe some SKY Italia games) - around 2011 for other European channels (and not 2012/2013 like I mistakenly wrote it before).
The problem with finding HD games is the same old problem facing collectors for many years now: collectors are very slow to switch formats. Even now, a large percentage of collectors still record to DVD. And then when collectors do make a switch to a new medium they make stupid choices. For example, early DVD collectors recorded DVD-LP to save money and DVD-LP looks horrible; worse that VHS-SP and perhaps even worse than VHS-LP. So many collectors record small bitrate HD (for example, 2mbps) to save space. But 2mbps looks like garbage. That is one part of the issue. The other part is that the people who were recording and uploading HD files to sites like maxxed (which has been closed for 5 years or so) and rojadirecta did not not collect games. They recorded, uploaded, and that was it. The files were there and then gone. Collectors didn't go to those sites because collectors wanted DVD even though it was clear that DVD was going to be replaced by HD files. So the uploaders were not collectors and collectors only wanted DVD, not HD. Because of this, there are very few collectors with HD games in their collections from the mid-2000s. The best thing is when we get close to major tournaments because European stations will show rebroadcasts of old games. These games tend of have black bars, though, because the original were SD, not HD. Very rarely do old games get re-fit to 16:9. But this is still better than DVD. Ok. To the reason I came back to this thread: Does anyone have any Copa do Brasil finals from Gol TV or Fox Sports World/Fox Soccer Channel with English commentary? I only want NTSC (PAL will be jumpy), cable/satellite > DVD-SP for older games. Or HD TS, MKV, or MP4 with at least 4.5mbps for games broadcast during the short window when Gol was in HD on US and Canadian cable/satellite. VHS > DVD-SP is acceptable for anything pre-2006. I am also interested in any Gol TV broadcasts of Uruguay liguilla (English or Spanish is fine for these DVDs). Thanks.

I do not owe these matchtes myself, but i know the collection of a trustworthy collector, who has all(!) WC 2010 in HD. in his list there are also some HD matches from WC 2006. i am talking of 1080p and nothing less. So HD has been around in 2006, at least testwise for some matches. regarding mxxed. they also had qualifiers for 2010 in hd from different international channels.

I traded with him one time 6-8 years ago. I have tried to email him at various points since then since he is the only collector I have met in Chile and I am interested in South American games. He never replied. Other people I know have not heard from him in many years, so either he stopped collecting, he stopped trading, or he is only trading with a small group of people.

We make a deal for 4 games. I give him the 4 that he askem me for and he has only sent me 2. Before finishing the first trade he asked me for more games, and obviusly I have asked for the games that he oubght me before sending any new game. Now, he has not reply me (in the las month) to the several emails and private messages that I have wrote him in this forum. And it is obvius that he is active...
