Well...I don't know if I'd go that far (or we probably wouldn't have any refs left!)...but SOMETHING has to be done to teach these guys that YOU DON'T MAKE A GAME-DECIDING DECISION ON A "MAYBE" CALL IN THE LAST MINUTE OF A GAME - ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR CALL IS LIKELY TO DETERMINE THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME!
And that is why I don't buy the hype about him. Go to Scotland and win the league with Patrick Thistle or Spain and win it with Celta Vigo, Pep. That might convince me.
erm ... no, I disagree. if the ref genuinely thought it was a pen (I did, watching it live - thought it was stone cold) he can't just ignore it can he? even if the team getting the benefit are a bunch of wankers most ppl can't stand, and the team penalized are minutes away from a historic win.
You have to give Pep some credit. Mourinho spends just as much money and his teams play like Burnley.
Pep is a great coach and he knows how to assemble a great team (yeah, the money helps) that play beautiful football. Klopp is just his Kryptonite. Kinda like Mou feels like Klopp's lately.
A sad day following a glorious one. If there is anything the last two rounds of the CL have taught us it is that teams that are willing to risk attacking the ‘giants’ can find reward. We shouldn’t fear any of our three possible opponents. Sevilla couldn’t produce a comeback - weren’t really troubled by Bayern, but we didn’t pose much of a threat either. Was it a penalty? I didn’t have any doubt when I saw it live. But this was one instance where the replays made a challenge seem better, not worse. But I definitely understand why Oliver gave it and I think it was the right decision. And I understand why he sent Buffon off - you cannot manhandle a referee. FIFA/UEFA must stamp this out - I can’t count the amount of times this season I’ve seen players shoulder, bump, pull, etc. a referee and this is the first time it has been punished. Players cannot be allowed to protest in this manner. And if I have to hear that sycophant holden refer to the real ‘fans’ as ‘the madrid faithful’ one more time I’m going to tear the roof off my house. Those spoilt little children that spent half the match whistling at their own players only to turn around and celebrate like they had just overcome a 3 goal deficit aren’t deserving of the word ‘faithful.’ Bring those b*itches on in the next round. Bring them on in a final. Give us the chance to break their undeserving, pathetic hearts. F*CK MADRID.
I agree with that statement Sam - if he genuinely thinks it was a pen (and I’m sure Oliver did) he should call it...but he should also see and call a foul on Crynaldo for his hand on the Juve defender he jumps over to head the ball back across...and he also certainly should have given Crynaldo a yellow for at least one of the times he fell over in the box, looking for a pen, clutching, his ankle, his head, or just plain air... Was it a foul? If I’m honest I think yes (“maybe”)...but I also think Crynaldo committed a foul first... And he is a wanker...so...
When the penalty incident happened Ramos was down by the pitch. He should be banned from the semi as he is not allowed in the thecnical area when he is out due to cards
That sounds better than all the celebrity coaches it's been hiring since, well, Josef Jupp Heynckes's last stint. As a footnote, I also recall not being that excited at all at the though of Carlo Ancelotti coming to Liverpool. Somehow he doesn't just fit.
