That's a competitive team, which is all you can ask of a newly formed country.

Would be pretty cool to see a Mexico vs California game tbqh, hell, as a Baja Californian I'd totally adopt them as my second team if they ever became independent.

That's what I'm saying. If this did ever happen, Mexico vs California would be a bizzare match to watch as I have absolute love for both.

California vs United Sates...that one is easy and would hope for a smashing of the US squad.

    Press Release
SURPRISE RECOGNITION OF CALIFORNIA BY FIFA- TEAM WILL APPEAR AT 2018 WORLD CUP IN RUSSIA - PANAMA AGREES TO GIVE UP SPOT IN GROUP G TO CALIFORNIA – US SOCCER PROTEST, CALL TO WHITE HOUSE– WILL FERRELL TAPPED AS NEW COACH!
SAN FRANCISCO, April 1, 2018: In a move that has shocked the football world, FIFA announced at their Swiss Headquarters in Zurich today that a new Federation and Men’s Team for the breakaway Republic of California will be approved for the World Cup in Russia this Summer. In making their surprise announcement FIFA President Gianni Infantino made note of California’s progress in youth and player development as well as stadium and infrastructure creation. “California should not miss out on Russia 2018” President Infantino stated “because of the institutional failings of US Soccer” which stumbled late last year as the US Men’s team crashed out 1-2 to Trinidad and missed World Cup qualification for the first time in 26 years.

US Soccer immediately lodged a protest with FIFA and the American Federation President, Carlos Cordeiro reportedly called the White House. President Trump has tweeted no comment yet through new White House National Security Advisor John Bolton stated that “the Swiss should know the US knows how to heat up a fondue.”

Secret negotiations last week between California Governor Jerry Brown and Panamanian President Juan Carlos Morelo were revealed with an agreement for California to take over Panama’s slot in Group G in return for granting the Central American nation most favored nation status in an exclusive trade agreement between the two Pacific Rim countries. Panamanian riot police swiftly broke up protestors who attempted to block ships on the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal.

The out-of-the-blue choice of TV/Film comic actor and MLS LAFC franchise co-owner Will Ferrell as California team coach with former USMNT and MLS Columbus Crew squad member Frankie Hejduk as assistant coach was defended by a California Football Federation spokesperson as ‘the best we could do at the moment since Landon Donovan is back playing in Mexico. Will has a great rapport with the players and Frankie is a total madman who will psyche the squad up for their big matches in Group G.” The CFF also quashed suggestions that players would be able to access legal California recreational marijuana in the locker room after World Cup matches.

The CFF has informed the selectees of their call up status and expect the team to appear at their training camp inside the secretive US Marine Corps base at Camp Pendleton, where they will meet coach Ferrell and begin work outs in preparation for Russia and their first match with Belgium on June 18.

The CFF announced their California squad (native-California born players), twenty-two in total, as follows:

Goalkeepers: Nick Raimondo, David Bingham, Chris Seitz

Defenders: Jorge Villafana, Chad Marshall, Sean Franklin, Amobi Okugo, Michael Orozco, Ryan Hollingshead, Miguel Angle Ponce

Midfielders: Sasha Klejstan, Chris Pontius, Jeff Larentowicz, Chad Marshall, Alejandro Guido, Marco Delgado, Sebastian Lletget, Tommy Thompson

Forwards: Gyasi Zardes, Bobby Woods, Christian Rameriz, Quincy Amarikawa
