National youth teams deserve better coaches than those currently working at KNVB. I feel like they are taking people no one else wants. The U19 coach is arguably the worst of them. Chong is very good since returning from injury but he has not been selected. Overall I find that these coaches lack creativity. Whatever the profile of the players they have at their disposal, they always play their team in the same way.
Yesterday I saw the match against Germany, and the team did not deserve to lose 4-1. They were better during most of the match but the Germans were very efficient.Individually, there are good players in this generation.

Amsterdam-born Braaf is a product of the famed Ajax academy and can operate on either wing as well as in the No.9 role.

  7. Oh dear oh dear. It's the coloured/African guys still falling for the lure of the pied piper. The rest seem to have understood it's a dead end street.

^^Everyone wants to play for Guardiola and few are actually called to do so. If they want a big cash day they should do what Kluivert and de Ligt are doing; prove your worth in the Eredivisie, get on the NT, and then wait for the offers to come and they will indeed come. I suspect de Ligt right now has a €60 M transfer value and that's just the floor. If Ajax somehow end up in Europe next season, his value will only increase. Same thing with Kluivert but he may be gone sooner unless he signs a contract extension; unlike de Ligt he is not ready for an upward move.

Depay went down that route. He received all the help Van Gaal could offer him at United and still flopped.

Out of curiosity how do people here feel about Jurgen Ekkelenkamp? His numbers are quite good for a 17 year old CM, but I haven't seen too much of him.

  13. Depay has/had? attitude problems. Nothing helps you unless you get rid of those.

Fine, the mention of Depay only amounts to anecdotal evidence anyway.

Do you feel City, with all the resources they've committed to their academy, cannot provide a valuable education to that Sandler kid (just an example). Can PEC offer anything as valuable? What about all the other benefits that the kid gets after signing with City, or Chelsea's for that matter (including having City on you resumé instead of PEC in case you don't make it/are looking for a loan move). Collectively it's killing football, superclubs stockpiling talents is at the heart of the deterioration of competitive balance in Europe. However, on the individual level, Sandler is making a smart choice.

  15. The point is he's not going to their academy. He's going to be "loaned" to PEC! He's just a useless CFG asset that will never set foot on the ManCity grass. He's just on the CFG books as a commodity for future profit without him getting anything in development from Manchester City (which isnot the same as CFG).

Seriously? Maybe I should have another look at the VI interview but doesn't he think otherwise?

^^It doesn't matter what Sandler thinks, it matters what ManCity think. UEFA really need to step in to stop this 'stockpiling' of young players providing they can do it in a manner that does not circumvent EU labor regulations. Chelsea have maybe 40-50 players under first team contracts and over half are out on loan. Do any of you think that those players on loan will ever play in a Chelsea first team (isn't van Ginkel still a Chelsea loanee?)? I don't know what the numbers are for ManCity.

Regardless of the loan numbers, most EPL teams will bring in an established player to fill a gap. Young players rarely break into the first team. I was just looking at the ManCity roster on Wikipedia and I don't think any of the listed players were home grown; they were all acquired transfers (correct me if I am wrong). It's the same with Chelsea. If any of these young Dutch players think they are going to break into those teams they are sadly mistaken. It will be really interesting to see what happens with Deshawn Redan and Chelsea. It may be that Fosu-Mensah is the only young player who moved over will make it with the youth set up he moved to but as long as Mourinho is at ManU I have my doubts.

The only good thing about moving to England is that all EPL teams have lots of money to spend compared to other leagues in Europe. As Rod Tidwell said in the film 'Jerry Maguire', "SHOW ME THE MONEY!"

Good examples of players who didn't make it with their EPL clubs: van Aanholt, Bruma, Rekik and those are just the ones that quickly come to mind. Perhaps we should compile a complete list!!

  18. The most serious point of criticism I have with kids like him is that they really think that they're going to be under the wings of a top coach like Pep. The truth is the time of Pep is so expensive he's spending it on players well established and not costing less than now 55 million + British pounds. The next fact is that these kids are beyond academy age, so they also never ever set foot on that window dressing exercise ground of about 300 million. They're going to be loaned and in his case it isto PEC themselves (probably as part of the deal). So in the end there's nothing related to ManCity then the fact that from next season on his paycheck is signed in Manchester. It is telling for the imbecility of the managers in the footballclubs that they're willing to pay extra for a player who's only connection with Manchester City is the origin of his paycheck.
    Figure it out.
I had conflicts with US soccerfans drooling about the fact that Erik Plmer-Brown was signed by ManCity and that he was "chased"by Ajax, PSV, PSG etc. I analyzed the whole thing and last year started to write he would never be part of PSV or Ajax, let alone the top clubs mentioned in relation to him. Delusional fans slapped me with "proof" of his excellence which amounted to being chosen player of Uxx tournements and playing for 2nd team of Porto.
In the end it turned out I was right all along and it turned silent from these wannabee stargazers.
He's now in Belgium and not playing that much. This summer he had the chance to sign for PSV as PSV was looking for creating depth in their selecton, but he made what I called in the thread following him a fatal mistake to sign for MC instead of PSV. His delusional fans kept bombarding me with the fact (created by US paper Metro) that he would be loaned to PSV and that PSV would have to be thankfull on their knees to get him on loan. I asked them what benefit would there be for PSV to add millions on his transfer worth by developing him, while they really are in need of an established CD and in the end get nothing and still be without a CD they need, while they have a big talent in the reserves, Obispo, waiting to be taken up in the first team.
Well, it ended like I told them and now they're still hanging on their delusion by calling the new thread EPB with ManCity, on loan at Kortrijk:rolleyes:

    Orange14 repped this.
  19. To show how one of those fans "think" I copied this from the thread:
    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/in...march-27th-2018.2081142/page-35#post-36465392
So you're saying everybody that had him in his squad is wrong in their vision about his abilities....and deliberately derail their own chances to have their team perform as a winner? Because...? SadoM tendencies?

The blue part is my comment!

You should've given up when you (a fan) started vehemently arguing against what journalists (professionals) were claiming they were being told. But no, you were smarter than them, and because you have some basic knowledge of Dutch football clubs, you could confirm or deny all info coming out of Netherlands.

  21. In the end nothing they claimed was backed up by anything in the local European media at all (apart from quoting the US journalists (professionals) that is) and the end result was a far cry from the hype and very much what I predicted.
If you start reading a couple of posts prior to this one you will see I post the same analysis I did with EPB with Dutch talents and the false lures of the epl clubs.
It's not that my prime objective is to bash US talents (see my posts in the Miazga thread) but to install reality about the actions of particular clubs and their detrimental effects on young talents.

Palmer-Brown is in the running for the Freddy Adu award!!! You read it here first; Palmer-Brown will never play a game for ManCity.

@feyenoordsoccerfan I had another look and saw that the Sandler "kid" has turned 21 already. Oops, as he was some obscure player from PEC that only came to my attention because of his move to City I thought he would have been younger. Well he's still eligible for their U23 team and his expectation is to be at City (or he could also go on loan to Celtic, Girona, ... for that matter). Was he highly regarded in Holland? I don't recall seeing his name in this sub. I doubt the alternatives open to Sandler are more alluring. Not every player at a smaller club turns out to be a worldbeater (and in case they fail there they aren't exactly better off than if they had failed at a bigger club).
