One Pro: Ki-PJH partnership. Big con not mentioned yet: a complete lack of service from the FBs. If we want to take advantage of playing JDW alongside SHM, we need proper crosses into the box.
STY is being ridiculous for expecting Son to create against double-team defending. How about coming up with a lineup and a formation that will create more space for Son to do his thing?
Many unrealistic options there. I think if we could test a young player, it should be Han Chan Hee, who has been playing really well this season (but he got injured again recently...). At least he's been playing on pro level for years now. KJM, LKI, PSH are way too inexperienced and if K-Leaguers struggle on WC level, I can't imagine how players without any pro level experience would do. It's delusional to think they could anyhow help our team. It'd rather have a negative impact on their careers. WC is different to Olympics or AG. Park Yi Young is an option but a) as a frequent follower of the second Bundesliga, I can say it's a really slow league and on a similar level as the K-League and b) we have decent options on the RB actually. He has been decent but hasn't shown anything that would make him better than the one's we have. But I understand your desire for alternatives. It's been really frustrating.
Sigh. Another STY response that lacks any accountability. I thought the whole point of playing Norn Iron was to replicate the Swedes... Then we needed to practice running into space behind the backline. We should have tested HHC and SHM making those runs along with LJS and KCH for at least 60 minutes. Instead we get 90 minutes of KSW sitting on the toilet clogging everything up and allowing SHM to be marked out of the match. And then he deflects criticism onto his player!?
SHM will play well in a 4-4-2 counter attacking style football. If we sit back and have a more organized defensive shape, SHM will have enough space to exploit. Today we played mostly possession so it was hard for SHM to play especially playing alongside KSW.
Kim JM is playing weekly at a pro level since his move. It's a higher level than JWY has been playing. Same can be somewhat argued for PSH. LKI should be tested to see how far off he is and for the experience. At least he won't soil himself like JWY does at the international level.
I disagree about having decent options on RB. They are all bad and it's our weakest position. LY played well against a bad NI team.
TBF KJM plays in Austria second division which is weaker than the J-league. Also he's not playing full minutes and only playing 45-60 mins. If he get fast tracked to Salzburg and start playing for them before the end of the season then I think there's a justification of him getting picked. But I have a suspicion his fitness it not there yet as a newly pro.
The one thing I will say abt HMB is that he would NEVER say something like this. Lip service is ultimately meaningless but he would never publicly throw his hands up in the air in this manner. What is his purpose as a manager if not to help solve problems such as this?
I disagree. Kim Jung Min has played 3 games in the second Austrian league. Fair enough, it's pro level. But no way on the same level as the J-League where JWY plays. I 100% agree that we MUST get rid of JWY, but these youngsters won't help us, I am pretty sure. Well, yes RB is our weakest position, but I stand to my point that PYY has shown nothing so far. What exactly makes him better than the actual options? He can't cross and he's too slow for WC level. Maybe we could give him a shot in May, but I don't think he would improve our squad in any way. Just my opinion.
Just think he should be given a chance. But there's no use of arguing because it won't happen anyway.
Anyway, we should not forget the roots of our problem (just a reminder): - Lee Yong Soo: appointed Stielike because of "good weather" and didn't sack him at the golden timing - Stielike: literally wasted our past 3 years - Kim Ho Gon: was the main reason for Hiddink scandal (I'm not even saying he should've signed Hiddink, but the way he acted hurt KNT badly) + hired STY without even considering alternatives - Chung Myong Gu: he let it all happen Thank you guys
Actually in his past 3 matches, vs Incheon, vs Tianjin, he was often caught wrong footed, and is just not a very agile player.
To Hong's credit, he's the type of leader that will defend his team and take full responsibility even if it means taking the bullet for them. This is the very leadership quality he had and brought when he was the captain for the national team, and why it was very effective especially under a strong management in Hiddink. Shin Tae-yong on the other hand has a habit of chewing out his players in public, and he's had a long history of throwing players under the bus during his tenure at Seongnam. This is one of the reasons why I dislike Shin Tae-yong as the manager alongside how he's on a high horse/has this attitude where he thinks he's the best manager our of Korea. Instead of figuring out what went wrong and fixing the problem, he pulls a full Stielike with poor media skills and blaming players. Son isn't a one man army, he can't do everything on his own, not especially when the other pair isn't doing much to help him either.
Fair enough. We need to accept that he's a little too slow. But imo the fullbacks' and Jung Woo Young's lack of defending didn't help either. On the other hand, I was surprised at how decent Kim Min Jae's build up play was. Much better than what I've seen from JHS or KSG (reason why I prefer CHW) in the past few games.
Just before the match, he said that the fans shouldn't criticise the players because it affects their performance. I guess he meant that they shouldn't criticise Jang.
I admit that I was in support of Kim Shin-wook going to the WC because of his performance leading up to the NI match, but that exactly pisses me off, because instead of continuing to do better and playing like there's no tomorrow, he failed to prove his worth when it mattered. I can only blame myself for having such expectations of him as stupid as it sounds.
He can't do any better. He plays well against third-rate Asian opponents because they are like matchsticks, and he can out-muscle them. However, as soon as you introduce half-decent defenders, he is just completely outclassed, because he has no technique. FFS, he was losing aerial challenges against players much shorter than him. I don't care how good he plays for Jeonbuk, he is useless against a competent side. Don't pick him. Full stop.
