For those wondering how we can say Omar sucks if he always starts... well his direct competition just fouled a guy in the box like 3 minutes into the game. Luckily our keeper stopped the penalty.
He probably doesn’t want to live in Frisco “We have one mall and the local high school employs the most people” Texas. Pachuca is a small city but he’s playing at a much higher level.
If I were Omar I would stay in Mexico for a little while longer unless he really wants to be booed in every away game he plays in in MLS.
Everything seems to indicate he’s being left off the squad because of how terrible he has been. Herrera had a decent game vs Lobos and Peña (he’s almost as tall as Omar) has been getting called to the bench.
Not on the list for today’s match. You could see this coming. He started off the season in terrible form. Most players did as well because of the club World Cup but seems like he hadn’t been able to catch up.
Still not making the game day squads. If he wants to stay his issue isn’t really Herrera, who seems to also have been somewhat written off by Alonso. It’s the youth Peña who’s gotten the nod tonight for the second week in a row. Tall, fast, and has decent ball control. If he doesn’t go on a slump (like sometimes youths tend to do) I don’t see how either Herrera or Gonzalez can win the spot back. BTW there are mixed reports about why he’s not being called. Apparently he’s been struggling with an injury but fact of the matter is he started the season terribly.
Considering almost no one wants him in the USA NT, it may be a blessing in disguise that he's not playing for his club.
Guy needs to find a team in MLS that will allow him to play at his level. Liga MX seems to have passed him by, which for some of us, is not a surprise. I wonder how his career had been different if Ol' Chandler hadn't nuked his knee when he went over to Deutschland. Right now he might have to settle for San Jose to actually find some PT.
Who knows. I would hazard a guess that he would have struggled unless he had spent hours upon hours on his technique, which in Germany, would have been afforded and encouraged to him. So it might have been the best possible thing for him, but it wasn't to be.
Medina was sent back to Monterrey and Murillo's from dropped. They could no longer cover his mistakes.
I do not think he will be booed. The disgust comes from lack of effort and heart in our most crucial 90 minutes. He ********ed up but he didn’t walk around like a mopping teenager. He also looks like he punished himself more than the fans could and that likely comes across to most people.
I think he would be booed, but I wouldn't do it. I think some people can't or won't separate lack of effort from lack of talent. It wasn't his fault the coach put him in a position like that, knowing that he is of limited ability and quickness of foot. He was the first to put his hand up after the match and say he'll never forgive himself or forget what happened. I respect that. You could see in his face how badly he felt. He stinks, but he cared. I can't say that for sure about Michael walks-toward-the-corner-flag-in-the-dying-minutes Bradley. I have no clue about Jozy. He's just a mystery to me.
Gonzalez has always been worth one crucial mistake per game. For the NT, Besler can usually cover for it. Matt "gets" Omar. But the own-goal was brilliant, gotta give him that. Had it been in the other net and intended, it'd the goal of the quals. He tried so hard to score in the last 15 minutes. Every time a cross came he was already running into their area, sometimes leaving a gaping hole in the defense too. Poor Gonzo. But I have a feeling he won't be back.
He was back on the list for last match although he didn’t make the bench. He might replace Herrera on bench but Peña has done everything right to avoid getting benched.
I've watched a good number of Tuzos matches this year and I hardly recognize any of the names in the Copa squad. Near complete rotation, but hey it's good that Omar and Kekuta are getting some run. Hopefully he can get back to the point where he was compensating well for his shortcomings.
English is my second language so I’m not an expert on you guys’ expressions and sayings, although I know some.
