My dear Lilkicker. Such an arrogant man you are! That condescending tone. Do you want me to call you a rat? I'm still deciding if I should hate you first. Maybe once i decide that, you'd have figured out why people who aren't you don't fink or snitch. No wonder you're so well liked.
What about Montana in addition to Northern Illinois? NIU still not posted other than own site. Montana is more recent but no posting at all anywhere.
Seems like all the schools that haven't filled yet aren't rushing it. Still a few big time job openings left so probably want to make sure they are hiring the right person/fit.
Per news outlets the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations is now looking into allegations. Also, Mount St Mary’s is deep in the interview process (if not wrapped up)...id expect an announcement next week
How could anyone know what's going on at Mt. St. Marys?? They operate that place like the mafia (except much less efficient). They have said nothing about a coaching change and even announced a recruiting class with the former coach still listed on the website!? So, he's been getting phone calls and emails through the website and not even on the payroll. Either secretive or lazy or both. They should have gone back to d2 or even d3 long ago. Even good d3s update their websites... And what is the insinuation here with Carney at UNCW? Investigating what? EDIT - I looked it up. A 1994 incident of some "indecent liberties", investigated and case closed in 2007, now brought back in 2018? Really?
It’s really not that hard to connect the dots on how someone *might* know what is going on with a hiring process. Even at a “secretive” school as you allege the Mount is. So I don’t know what to tell you. Mount St Mary’s has been to several NCAA tournaments in men’s basketball in the past few years so it’s as if they’re totally irrelevant as you presume. As for UNCW whether you like it or not that’s what is going on. Someone asked, I shared. Welcome to 2018.
So you applied for the job at the Mount and know someone who did? So you know they hired Gosselin because his father was a donor regardless of the committee work? and so no one really knows if something like that could happen again. And you know they dropped men's soccer for no reason other than mismanagement of their budget? The alumni were so furious that they were asked to help build a new stadium and then the school dropped their sport! And easy to check they've only earned 3 NCAA basketball bids since Phelan left. That's not "several in the past few years". You've got to call it the way you see it. Whoever gets that job needs to be ready to be very frustrated.
Why are you so obsessed with men's soccer Eddie? This is a woman's soccer board but you always try to ram it in here. And no, as usual, there's no droves of suited alumni soccer fans in glass encased skyboxes who care anything about men's soccer. These mythical alumni of ravenous men's soccer fans you fret about didn't fund 100% of backed bleacher and small building construction out of pocket. Like, no other sports play there? They don't engage in fundraising? And funding doesn't come from elsewhere, like, oh, the budget? Men's soccer had a good six years after construction. I'd like to inform you that some ex-men's players did assist with fundraising in bringing men's soccer back for 2018! Are you psyched or what? Note in the article after you google how the athletic department has committed to expanding into other sports. It also appears that two conference hoops championships (and three NCAA games in four years) qualifies under PoetryInMotion's "past few years". Why do you go all the way back to Phelan to "disprove" something which wasn't stated?
I have the village idiot on 'ignore' as I believe most reliable posters here do (no offense). But I was referring to D1 Mt. St. Mary's in Maryland. They dropped their mens soccer program in 2012 and as a result, a good person and coach with young kids, Rob Ryerson, lost his job. Many of the mens alumni who helped build their stadium with donations and fundraising effort, were pretty pissed. They are bringing it back for 2018 with the support of a new President. On the women's side, they once ignored an A licensed female candidate to give the coaching job to a guy who's top qualification was that his father was a big donor to the school (Gosselin). The recent coach, Nemzer, left around the Holidays but the website still lists him as the coach. I am just pointing out that their support of soccer and overall competence is questionable and the next women's soccer coach there is likely to be very frustrated. I don't believe they've had a winning record ever and have not qualified for their conf tournament in over 20 years.
What a shock an administration hiring someone who use to work where they used too. Bakersfield hire a consistent 2nd assistant, Sebastian Vecchio will be so far out of his depth! https://gorunners.com/news/2018/2/20/sebastian-vecchio-to-lead-roadrunner-womens-soccer.aspx
Add to that it looks like he played for the mens coach as well while the current administration was also at Memphis at the same time.
http://www.und.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/022018aaa.html Poetry, any idea on who the Miami finalists are?
Absolutely agree, he's an avg. second asst. GK coach. Know a couple people who applied and this guy's experience isn't comparable... out of his realm.
It amazes me after reading this forum for so long. This is my first response. I don't know this guy at all but why is it people do not think people are "Good" coaches or don't think they are out of their realm because they don't have the resume? So you are only a good, qualified candidate if you have been around long enough to build long enough resume?
ND coach told Nate Norman a year in advance of her leaving so he leaves Liberty. Then she delays her departure to maximize his successor prospectus. Stupid AD doesn't see the collusion.
