Not really. I'm sure it'll come about soon enough. Our interactions with the Vegas folk have been positive and fun.
Has there been any talk of a dedicated soccer stadium for 1868? The ownership must be pleased and optimistic with the crowds this season. There was a mighty nice piece of property on the other side of the river from the baseball stadium ;-)
I have heard the Aces/1868 FC ownership owns the Freighthouse district and has land already in place for a dedicated stadium and practice field! They were originally supposed to be on a 10 year plan but this year's attendance may have bumped up the timeframe.
I don't remember who I heard it from. I am pretty certain it is one of our own who has connections with the FO. It may be wishful thinking on that persons fault but I hope I am right in believing in that person's honesty. BTW I think that a 10 year plan is as far as the FO can go out on using a non soccer specific stadium.
I'd like the whole area to eventually be the Freighthouse District, if a SSS goes up with a couple more restaurants/pubs.
I'm certainly wondering what specific parcels they own. There are definitely plenty of areas there ripe for redevelopment. I'm also wondering if the stadium and practice facility are expected to be adjacent. @2in10 seems to suggest they would be, but I would be kind of surprised if they are. I'd think a practice facility would be located elsewhere, not right next to downtown where the land could be put to more valuable uses.
Fair point. And if it's the land I'm thinking of, they would be hard-pressed to fit in a skeleton of a SSS and even half a practice field.
Dane, Chris, and Jimmy have been selected for the All-League Teams! http://www.reno1868fc.com/news_article/show/853989?referrer_id=2942483
Holy crap there's activity in here. They went from "I think we're going to only have a preseason match against SJ" to having a full freaking schedule in February and early March. Not complaining, mind you. More soccer for me and more chances for the boys to create some chemistry. Win-win
Reddit, Twitter, Facebook groups. I end up seeing a lot of the same people out there that contribute to this thread. I really like forums but unfortunately all the other things are pretty ubiquitous.
