Since the Oranje have not qualified for the upcoming World Cup, do the long time members of this forum want to continue to have this thread open? I ask this because there are other places on Big Soccer to have this kind of discussion about NTs and the World Cup. Please respond to this thread and so that I will know whether to lock it or not.

  2. Think it can stay as we can discuss the results of Bert van Marwijk there and several players from Dutch clubs are in national teams. It gives the opportunity to comment on matches with a Dutch club perspective that gets lost in other threads. So my take would be to let it live.

  3. We've got to make a list of players that are in Dutch clubs in the WC2018.
    Jörgensen and Dolberg for Denmark.
    Maybe Larsson for Sweden.
    Jones for Australia?
Our Morocan guys. Hell, it's almost a would be Orange team!
    Tapia for Peru.
The Iran players from AZ and Heerenveen.
So plenty of interesting Dutch perspectives to keep this thread alive I would say.

Well yes they did have an easy group, and were really lucky with the draws, but they were not horrible. Sweden did have a much tougher group, and yes I do have to say that they did do well to get where they are.

Ok fair, and i dont think greece was horrible. I just try to defend my country. And for once im proud over them. That team we had in euro was horrible. We didnt deserved to play euro. But see what a coach can do, tell me if im wrong, but ventura had better players than conte had? And i think italy was amazing in euro!

I feel this thread is useful. If it becomes unused it will drop down anyway.

You have every right to be proud. Sweden really did improve, and yes Ventura had quite a few better players than Conte did. Under Conte many players could not make Euro 2016 due to injury and young talent completely perked up right before Euro 2016 which made it too late to use any of the players.

Sometimes I feel the coach is way more important than the players. Sweden better without Zlatan is another example.

I say keep it open. It is the other national teams thread after all. Plus I like to keep my participation in a big site like BS limited to a couple forums with famailar posters. The generic threads in the larger forums seem to me are more of a shit show with 20 people posting about 20 different teams at the same time in the same thread but no real discussion happens.

    Just my $0.02 anyways

I think Sweden maybe is the weakest team with Serbia. I dont know how good Serbia cab be with the new coach. Many good players that didnt played at the qualify. There was some conflcts with the coach they fired. Probably u know that. But maybe u was right, we was lucky, but i think we peakad at the qualify and we are not gonna be that good again. Forsberg is injured too. I dont have a good feeling.

Well I'd say bring Conte back, but the question is, will he want to? Luigi Di Biagio will be our interim coach for the time being and will be in charge of our friendlies in march. I'd like to see how he does. He has really impressed me with the U21 team, so I need to see his selections and ideas for the main team. If he does well, I wouldn't mind hiring him as next coach. Many people criticize him, but he was just very unlucky in a few past games, and I really think he has a real winning mentality.

Ancelotti would be a good option as well, but again will he actually want to come given the circumstances?

I have heard some rumors about Mancini, but I don't really want him and don't think he is that great. Would be a huge upgrade to Ventura, but his tactics can sometimes be very questionable.

The only 2 guys I definitely do not want though are Poli and Prandelli. They get sacked from clubs consistently all the time. Again better than Ventura but not qualified to coach the NT.

I see, sad, i miss them, not the team you have now, so i dont miss you at world cup now, i dont mean to sound rude or anything.
But i read everywhere before on forum, not so much now, but "No Italy, Chile, The Netherlands, USA, and Ghana"
First how can you guys have USA in the same category with all those teams
USA doesnt deserve to be at world cup this time.
Ghana not the same anymore like 2006-2012, they played pretty good at Brazil but got 1 point, but not the same. There is new teams in africa instead.
    Chiles peak is over.
Italy are Italy, yea i know, one of the most classic world cup team, so im gonna miss them but i havent enjoyed watching them the last 2 world cups, and with Ventura probably out at the group stage again, but for me it was my country Sweden or Italy, so no problem no Italy.
And you guys, like i wrote before, i miss the dutch too but not this team. I miss Holland 2010, i miss Czech too, i do but Czech 2004, i really liked that team, and that match you played against them Euro 2004, 3-2 to Czech if i remember right. I had Czech as favourites that championship. Greece grr...
    I hope you comeback soon.

  18. He has been, much to the surprise of Peruvian fans, several times in teams of the week of different papers and footie magazines as a CD. He's a midfielder in normal times, but because our total defense being injured he became an emergency CD and is doing so well there that Olympique Marseille is interested in him for that spot.

Conte gonna leave Chelsea after this season, i think, right ?
Hmm do you think he want?

Oki i see, have he coached any clubs in Italy?
I read Ancelotti wanted to take a club. But maybe not true.
    I dont like Mancini either.
Hehe Prandelli, i heard it is impossible for him to take the national team again hehe
He has lost his auro i think.

There have been strong rumors about Conte leaving Chelsea. Whether he will want to come back to the national team, I really do not know. It could be 50-50. He resigned because he said he wanted a club job and promises that were made to him were not fulfilled. However after Euro 2016, he claimed to have really regret signing for Chelsea and wanted to continue. Conte can sometimes be hard to deal with because he knows exactly what he wants and is picky. He does not get it (especially if he was promised it before) then he starts to complain. However whoever the new FIGC president is, maybe it will be different and Conte would want to come back. Tavecchio really drove Conte crazy in terms of management.

Conte did coach Juventus in Italy. He did well with them except in his last season he failed to get Juventus out of their group. Really though the problem with Conte is, he does not like to rotate and pushes too hard and intense in every single game (even games that do not mean so much). Players start to get really warn out when it comes to the bigger games. That is why he is great with a national team because national teams do not play very often, but with a club, he starts to really faint as time goes on. I really feel Gli Azzurri is the job for Conte, because with the national team, every game is important and very intense so we need someone like him. Also national teams only meet during certain times of the year, so after the intense games, they go back to their clubs.

Ancelotti did say he wanted to take a club but would not mind the Azzurri if the circumstances change. He again is complaining about how the FIGC was run in the past. If he sees improvement he very well could take the job.

I really disagree with this. Chile has really stood out in many of the last competitions. They won both Copa America in 2015 and 2016. Also made the confederations cup final and gave Germany a huge fight. Yes Germany fielded a second team, but still.
