a) As far as marketing and exposure, you don't need to sign a Saudi player. There's already plenty of Saudi sponsorship in La Liga, and the marketing and publicity that goes with it.

b) Regarding the Chinese example, you're not comparing like for like. These are well established international players, not unknowns in Saudi. There's no upside in their valuation for the local market by going to Spain. Salem al-Dossary is a star player in the richest club in Saudi. There's nowhere up for him to go regionally.

 

BTW on the topic of Fahad al-Muwallad. There was a rumour raging that the new contract he signed hours before the loan deal had a break clause ( aka that he was leaving by the back door) , which the club had to deny in a formal statement today.

 

For sure, they'll have to overcome a tremendous amount of hostility, on and off the pitch.

 

a) You need to pay for rent of roster space. Each sponsorship deal is between a Spanish club and a Saudi firm, that's how you reimburse only the Spanish clubs involved. The money needs to go to individual clubs, in order to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.

Could you please name which Saudi sponsors are present in La Liga? Its main sponsor list does not show any Saudi companies for some reason:

b) You are right, unfair comparison.
Rayo Vallecano will host Abdulmajeed Al Sulayhim: a 23-year-old who did not play an official match with the Saudi Arabia national team, and lacks club experience outside the Saudi league.
The 25-year-old Chinese player who went to Rayo Vallecano in 2015, had played Asian qualifiers with the Chinese national team (when he was 22 years old).

If you look at it from the Spanish club perspective: they don't need to field those players, but will certainly welcome the money for training them.

I hope GSA does not blame xenofobia for the lack of minutes in Spanish clubs. It is just a poorly improvised model for World Cup preparation.

Bear in mind that it is not an attack on Saudi players or fans. It is just weird how the GSA expects to do well in Rusia 2018 by doing these types of deals.

Could it be perhaps an opportunity to siphon money from the GSA?

Congratulations to Al Hilal on winning the SPL by winning 4-1 against Al Fateh.
Omar Khirbin scored 3 goals and Sharkhi scoring 1 goal for Al Hilal. While Al Fateh's goal was scored by Joao.

Hilal played with a lot of motivation and without fear which was lacking in previous many games.

Also, SPL has failed to produce "Saudi" talent for forward / striker position, and all the clubs heavily relied on the services of "Non-Saudi" players for getting the job done. Though there is glimmer of hope in shape of "Abdul Wahab Jaffar", "Berhabri" from Shabab club, "Islam Siraj", and few other players in big such as "Fahad Al Jammia" from AlNasr, "Majid Al Muena" from Al Hilal (who I believe is better than his teammate "Mujahid Al Muena"... these are promising players and should be brought to Olympic / Youth / Under-25 Team for gaining more experience.

Also, Saudi clubs should scout for "Saudi" talent for striker position and should search for players who are well-built, Taller in height (more than 6 feet tall), and should have dribbling skills as that of Salem Al Dosari, Fahad Al Geshyan, Yousef Al Thunian, etc.

Remember, Saudi plays the opening game against Russia in the FIFA world cup in which, the Avg. height of Russian players (specially in the Striker position) is more than 6 Feet and 3 Inches. (I got the figure from Wikipedia after reviewing the profile of all Russian players who have been part of the team of late, and who were also recently called up for National Team Duty)... Believe me, Russian players are taller than your expectation so it would be better if Saudi Team can play the ball at ground level and avoid areal approach specially by shooting at low ground level on the goal keeper (the taller they are, the harder for them to collect the ball which is at ground level).

So, what's the next tournament to play in for the club after King's Cup ?
