I suppose I would counter that by suggesting it gives you something that others don't have. I'm not suggesting that US fans should follow South Shields or Crawley Town, but that teams like Newcastle, Everton, West Ham, West Brom are accessible and have small and passionate fan bases outside their standard catchment. I understand your point of course, there are a lot of baseball fans in the UK, that mostly follow the Yankees or Red Sox, and gridirion fans that follow the Cowboys or Patriots (probably dependent on their age) I guess that is effectively the same thing.
Oddly enough ( or is it ) I am a long time Barcelona fan but I've been firmly behind Liverpool since the 70's .. Kinda weird that I've been banned from the Liverpool threads for basically enquiring how THEY thought the Coutinho transfer would go ... only one ( a rather foul mouthed individual) fan in there seemed to take offence at me ...
Anyways .... seeing I can't discuss Liverpool in the designated threads hopefully I'll get some chat here .. it's regarding Mahrez who is apparently a definite possibility for Liverpool this window . He's an amazing player and I'd have been happy to have had him at Barca and Liverpool .. I'm just wondering were he'd play though given his preference for the same side / area as Salah ?!?! Any thoughts ??
I don't like Liverpool, bur I'll comment anyway. Mahrez scored 17 goals in 37 games (0.46 per game) when Leicester City won the title but has scored 13 goals in 58 games (0.22 per game) in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 so far. That only includes Premier League games.
Interesting .. Mahrez would be better suited to Arsenal imho .. hasn't got the right work ethic for Chelsea
They still expect the players to work hard apart from Hazard .... remember how they turned super talented Joe Cole into a hardworking midfielder - such a waste of talent .
I guess at the moment if you want to support the best team then it is Man City, however, if you want to support a team that seems to provide entertainment win lose or draw its Liverpool, especially with their charismatic attack focused manager. You rarely get boring games with Liverpool these days even when they lose there's usually goals. Man City are the champions and the top scores they also provide great entertainment but ironically their brand of possession football where they make 100 passes before having a shot type football maybe isn't for everyone. Caveat: I am a Liverpool fan and admittedly biased but we were one of the only two teams to beat Man City this year and we did it three times in a row Honourable mentions to Spurs who are very similar to Liverpool.
You should follow Watford---root for them so they may be able to stay in the Premier League for more than 1 or 2 years at a time.
Guess I would have to support Newcastle, because of the curvature of the earth they are technically the closest team to my home in Southern California. St. James is 24 miles closer than Anfield. But wait if I swap teams won't I be called a plastic? So many difficult decisions.
I think the intended answer was LA Galaxy or Los Angeles FC. Although, the unintended answer might be Club Tijuana, in your case. Either way a couple thousand miles closer than Newcastle. That's usually what the locals mean when they say that.
I really love Arsenal, but with Arsene Wenger's departure, I don't know what will happen to the Gunners.
The fans didn't appreciate all the marvellous football they played over the years . They played better than Barca on their day . I hope they get some kick and run merchant like Big Sam or a park the bus - negative type !!
Yeah I know I was being a tad sarcastic to point out that this is on the Premier League Forum. Definently prefer to go to Estadio Caliente over Home Depot/StubHub/YourNameHere/Charger'sCesspit. A little bummed that Xolos went out on Sunday though.
They haven't won the league but didn't they win the FA Cup two or three tones in the last 5 years or something? On their day they still play fabulous football - something Barca haven't done all season ... it's a borefest now and a complete waste if Messi's final few years ..
